| Am I in the wrong? I am getting my puppy next weekend. He will be 9 weeks old. I am paying 900.00 for him. The person I am getting him from doesn't want to pay to have his second set of shots and the worming done when he is 9 weeks. I am a little angry because what am I paying her 900.00 for? I mean, every other breeder I know one, waits until the puppy is 12 weeks, two, it has at least 3 sets of shots and a health guarantee. Am I wrong for expecting his second set of shots and anything else to be done? Now, she seems pretty mad that I expect that from her. What should I do?

| hmmm, Sounds like you have a breeder who wants to pass on the pups quick. A Breeder will keep most of them for 12 weeks sometime past that. I would get your health guarantee and really go over it. I hope one of our YT Breeders can asnwer that for you. Did you post on the Breeder's Thread? Might give that a try. Good Luck to you.

| my hannah is 10 weeks old and I got her at 9 weeks old, she has only had her first shots, she has her second round today. I paid 750.00 for her, however they did deworm her. I think it just depend on the breeder. Some do it and some don't, your paying for the dog not really the shots. 900.00 in some areas is a good price I paid 1200.00 for my first yorkie, that was about 5 years ago, and he only had his first set of shots as well. |

| No, I believe that I am paying her for the dog and all the care that she has to give to him before I get him. That includes the shots and anything else. It shouldn't be about making money, it should be about making sure every puppy that leaves the breeder's house has all the health care and preventative care it can possibly have. That is my opinion, and if the person I am getting my puppy doesn't agree, I need to find someone else.

| My puppies do NOT start their vaccines til they are 8 weeks, then 12 then 16. I frequently keep them that long.. And, worming is something that I do not do unless the puppies have a positive stool for something. They do not leave my house before 12 weeks! Most responsible breeders keep their puppies til they are at least 12 weeks and maybe older if the puppy is a tiny. Since you have to make an appt with the vet for the puppy to be checked within a day or so, your vet could give the vaccination if they want..And, do a stool and worm or treat parasites.. JMO |

| Also, my point is, and I said this earlier is not if I do it or she does it, he needs his second round of shots, and if he is in her care, she needs to pay for it.

| How old was he when he got his first one And, how often does your vet give them?? I start at 8 weeks and they get one every 4 weeks. They do not get any other shots within 2 weeks of their combo vaccines. Maybe the vets in your area do it differently, huh? |

| My pups left at 12 weeks and 15 weeks....My first pup that left at 12 weeks had two sets of shots ( I also did the 8..12..16 route) and the pup that left at 15 weeks I gave them the option of me paying for the 3 set and keeping the pup until then or them paying and taking the pup at 16 weeks..they chose the later.... |

| She did them at 6 weeks, and her vet told her to come back and do them at 9 weeks. My vet here also told me that they start at 6 weeks. Maybe I am just overreacting about all this. I am just feeling pressured because the other 2 puppies went home at 6 weeks, and I was not ready for that, and didn't have the money. So, I feel like she is pressuring me to hurry up and get him.

| Not a breeder I would deal with. Anyone who sends puppies out the door at 6 weeks are not responsible caring breeder and sounds as if they are in it for the money. WRONG reason to breed Yorkies or any dog, IMO |

| Also, I have seen other puppies available for 900.00 that will not go home until 12 weeks and they have 3 sets of shots. I don't think I should have to pay her extra to get a second set of shots and the worming done.

| I know it sounds horrible but I believe ALL breeders breed for some amount of money, even the ones who give excellent care to there mommies and puppies, if it was'nt about the money they would only sell the dogs for the vet bills they have incured for the pups till they went to there new home. My mom mated her poodles and sold them after 12 weeks, and the vet bills for each where about 300.00 with shots, check-ups and the tail docking, yet she sold them for 800.00 a peice so she stood to make money. My point is if it was just about giving someone a wonderful pet and only about improving the breed noone whould be paying more then 300.00 for any type of puppy ever. So you should check out the breeder and make sure that she is giving them the absoulute best care possible and if you feel uncomfortable about the transaction and how pushy she is then maybe she is'nt one of those breeders that care about the pups at all. There are breeders who are all about money and ones who like the money but really care for there pups and love them enough to vet them properly. I would go with your gut instinks. |

| I paid 950 for Daisy and she only had one set of shots and came home at 8 weeks... It's all in the breeder. |
