| Tinkerbells story Hi everyone i am new here and new to the Yorkie breed as well. I just got a 6 week old, (i know its bad) she is a very healthy girl. Well i live in south korea(military husband) and i have a maltese (4 months old). Before i got Chiquito i had gotten Georgie a sweet 8 week old baby, after only 3 days of having him he died , I went back where i got Georgie and they offered me another Yorkie. I was so sad over Georgie that I decided i didn't want another Yorkie or any other pet. I don't speak korean and well they didn't speak english but basically it came down to another puppy or no money back. That is how i got my maltese, his mommy was there and they had 3 little ones, Chiquito was the medium size one, and I brought him home. He is so healthy and such a beautiful boy. I never forgot georgie and wanted another Yorkie. The vet where i take my maltese to had this little girl and he offered her to me. At first i was having doubts because when we got there to see her she was so tiny but the more i though about it the more I wanted her, it was love at first sight. I am doing my best to take care of her, I haven't slept 3 hours straight watching her, and making sure she eats. I feel so bad that she was taken away from her mommy . Here in korea is not unsual to see puppies being sold at 7 or 8 weeks , I got Chiquito at 8 weeks(it doesn't make it right). Well she is doing very good and she eats like a little pig . I know when i brought Chiquito home I gave him a bath 2 days later, Georgie never got a bath . She is very tiny, I am afraid to bathe her, does anybody know at what age she can have her first bath??(she stinks so bad ) here is her pic so you can see how tiny she is. Should i wait? I don't want to put her in any kind of danger. |

| Welcome to YT! Your baby is adorable! I don't know about bathing one that small but I'm sure some of our more experienced members will answer you soon with sound advice. Our Toto was 16 weeks when we brought her home so I have no experience with one as small as yours. Looking forward to seeing her in the YT Nursery and seeing her grow! Hope you enjoy it here at YT!! And thanks to your husband and your family for his service to our country!!

| Hello and welcome! Your pup is adorable! I would wait a couple of weeks untill it is about 8 weeks old for a bath. Then blow dry your pup using a blow dryer on low setting.

| You can use baby wipes in the mean time and that will help a little with the smell - I would use the non scented ones though that are a little more for sensitive babies. She is adorable!! |

| What a precious baby, congratulations! She is pretty young so I agree with the other members using baby wipes for now. I'm glad to hear she's healthy and eating.

| Welcome to YT. Your baby is adorable. The baby wipes are a good idea. When Trixie had her pups, we gave them a bath for the first time at about 5 weeks. Very warm (not hot) water and would wrap them up in a warm towel out of the dryer. They have such short hair at that age...they were dry before the towels could get completely cooled down. And very gentle baby shampoo...a very small amount. |

| Your baby is adorable. I read on one of the veterinary boards that it is okay to give them a bath after 4 weeks but to avoid allowing them to get chilled. Good luck on your baby, I am sure all your efforts and lack of sleep will pay off! |

| Hi Micaela! I posted to you on the maltese board about your new baby. I am chloeandj over there too. Glad to see you here. Your baby is adorable. If she's that stinky, she must be pretty dirty and I'm sure that can't be all that nice for either one of you. If it were me I would probably bathe her just being extra careful to keep her very warm. Put a towel in the dryer while you bathe her. Welcome! |
