Ouchieee! I had to take one of the babies to the vet.... When I got home at noon from running errands, as always...I check on my babies. The first thing I see is spots of red blood on the bedding. So I checked each pup. The littlest boy was bleeding from his tail, so I called the vet. I'm thinking it's something to do w/ his tail docking that was done last week. I used pressure to try to stop the bleeding, but that wasn't working. So off we go to the vet (only 3 miles away. YAY!!) It turns out that....it looked like mama got a bit carried away in her cleaning and nipped him. The Dr. put 3 lil sutures on him and has given me antibiotics to give him 2x a day so it won't get infected. He should be fine, but I will surely be keeping extra check on him.

Awe, the poor little lamb. I know how scarey that is to see blood! Did Mamma rip a stitch out or was there actually a little puncture wound?

It was an actual puncture wound in middle of his little tail. The docking has healed fine.

When you see how the mothers are with them, it is surprising it doesn't happen more often. When someone has to take care of a wee one like that the vet will sometimes tell them not to be too gentle with them because of how the mother naturally is with them. The little buggers get knocked around quite a bit while being stimulated and cleaned.
