| Red Yorkies - Chai and Mercedes Princess Chai and Mercedes are STUNNING and simply beautiful! What type of Yorkie are they -- do they have a special name like the Biewers have? If I ever wanted a Yorkie that color, what would I search for? What type of breeder?

| Thanks Jen! No, there is no special name....just a color anomally. Like the chocolates and the parti colored. They are Yorkies through and through, just a different color. I don't think I ever told anyone this on YT, but just mentioned it again last night to my husband. When Tiah was still pregnant with that litter I had a dream that she had 2 Corgi pups. I even told my Mom about the dream and she said that she never heard of them. So it was soooo wierd when she ended up having the 2 red pups. Once she did, I was so gald that I had told them about my dream BEFORE the pups were born. |

| That's amazing. She is just such a pretty girl. Ok so let's say I wanted to get a red Yorkie - how would I find a breeder of red Yorkies? Can someone actually breed intentionally for them or are they just surprises in a litter? Can breeders do genetic testing for them? I love the red coloring so much! It's so unique.

| When mine were born I knew nothing about them....so I tried to find out as much as I could. I have found that people breed for them but still don't get them as often as they would like. I am not breeding Tiah with that male ever again (Cowboy is her future stud). However, if I did, it MAY never happen again. |

| I thought Chai was a Parti? They are beautiful, just like Tri and Chocolate. And just like them they are not the breed standard and not something that breeders of Standard Yorkies are trying to achieve. Just like your tiny (and mine) I would suggest finding one that is a result of standard breeding. Most information I have found says they should not be used for breeding. I have been told they can be AKC registered if their parents are standard but it's tricky since that color is not listed on the registration of Yorkshire Terrier. If you want one, do your research. Read the YTCA website opinion www.ytca.org (go to FAQ) |
