cherie had it recently, she picked up something outside our corridor. i saw her chewing on something and tried to dig it out of her mouth. horrors, i discovered too late that it was chewing gum. it fell from her mouth and stuck to her muzzle fur, i was so desperate coz i don't want to cut away her muzzle fur, you know how ugly that will look. luckily my mun suggested putting oil on the gum to loosen it so that it will not be so sticky. took me around 1/2 hour to remove all the gum from her fur.

Anything with oil in it will help. Cooking oil, thick hair conditioner, etc. Rub it in and let it set for a coupla minutes and either gently comb it or use your nails to separate it from the hair.I would be careful about using peanut butter as that could encourage chewing. My critters LOVE peanut butter..

| Goo Gone (Walmart and grocery stores have it usually) works wonders on getting gum out of human hair and off of clothes. You might try that.

I just checked GooGone to make sure my info was right. It is not to be used around children and not to be used to clean clothes while still wearing them. I would say it is NOT safe to use on a dog, especially if it is in an area the dog can lick. It has petroleum distillates..

Thanks to all that responded for my plea of the chewing gum on paw caper. I did know that peanut butter would get it out, but I thought too, she may chew on her paw later due to the peanut butter flavor that remains. Also, thought of Goo Gone, but I would NOT use it on my hair, so didnt think I should use it on her paw. Ice was also recommended by a friend, but OBVIOUSLY, she isnt aware of the high energy of a Yorkie! So, when my husband got home, and he was able to hold her, so I could clip most of it out of her paw and surrounding pads. There is very little left, so I hope her next grooming will take care of it, especially with the hair growth. I have no idea if she consumed any of it, because today she is normal (or is there a normal with a Yorkie?) she is active, eating, sleeping, barking (back talking), running, digging, and chasing, so needless to say no tummy problems. Again, I thank you for your responses! Chelsea'sMOM
