| Idle curiosities OK, this is something that has been troubling me since we got our puppies. Addie and Raider just turned three and I have always wondered why Addie turns clockwise before pooing and Raider turns counterclockwise. Every time. Is it because one is a female and the other is a male? Is one a Republican and the other a Democrat? Right wing, left wing? Conservative, liberal? Oh, I hope not! Not troubling, but an observation. I read somewhere that there have been studies done, probably at taxpayer expense, as to whether or not dogs face a certain direction when pooing. I have noticed that Addie most often faces generally north, whereas Raider doesn't care. North, south, east or west. It just depends on where he quits spinning around. I guess I just have an idle mind when walking the puppies! |

| It's funny and ridiculous and sometimes I wonder about myself, at what we observe and note with these little ones. I mean, I never paid attention to what my German Shepherds were doing when they were doing their business...Your post made me laugh out loud---and was somehow reassuring, as well! Looking forward to hearing more from you! |

| There have been more recent studies showing that dogs do align north and south when there is a calm magnetic field, which only occurs about 20% of the time. |

| Have often wondered also why dogs circle and scratch at a spot before laying down whether outside or inside. HMMMM |

| In the old days, out in the wild, that's how canines 'made their beds" by tramping down long grasses and getting space just right and out-of-sight. This was long before cloud nine or sharing out sertas...!!!! |

| This is so funny.. I once read (and totally don't believe it) that dogs circle and circle so that their poo aligns with the magnetic north pole! haha... the things people do researches on.

| Does anyone else have a Yorkie that "walks" as they poo? Our Bella will hunch down, but then starts kind of walking in that hunched position while she goes. Leaves some here, some over there... LOL

| Sasha does it all the time. She starts in the middle of the pad but quite often leaves a "hang on" off the pad.

| This is exactly what scottie does. It makes some people laugh because it's so weird. Some people get annoyed, when he's circling on the sidewalk and he's left his little poops all over the sidewalk. I always wait until he's finished to pick up his poop, just in case he's got one hanging off his bum...

| Deuce faces south and poops north. Sometimes faces a bit southeast on occasion.
