| Question on second Yorkie Hi all.. I'm new to this site but not new to owning Yorkies. I'm adding a second baby to the house .. She is 3 months old and was wondering what to expect from my 4 yr old princess. I know she will be a little jealous but I need to know if I should keep them separate during sleeping.. Eating..Etc. Help!! |

| It really depends on their personality. If they get along great there might not be any issues but if they play rough or don't get along you might have to be more careful. If they sleep in crates or beds they should each have their own. For awhile I would try to make sure you are around to watch them together.

| Welcome to YT and congrats on your soon to be new baby girl. You don't have to worry about keeping them separated lol, your little princess will stay away from frisky pouncing puppy. I would keep them separated when they eat until your lil princess has accepted the new kid which could take weeks or a couple of months. If / when lil Miss princess comes to sniff out this strange critter watch them closely, always supervise when they are together. Make sure Miss princess has a safe place to go, away from the puppy. When ever I bought home a new baby my older ones stayed up on the sofa, away from nippy fur ball. Always make Miss princess first in everything, first to get fed, treats, greeted when you go out and return home. It may take time for Miss princess to stay on the floor in the same room with the new kid but they will become BFF. Please keep us posted when the baby comes home.

| Hi I just brought home my second yorkie and my 1st is scared of the puppy. The puppy has gone to the bathroom in his area and now Toby( my 1st) won't go to the bathroom there!!! Every time the puppy comes near him he just runs away. And your saying this is normal? Should I keep the potty area seperate too! Also if I hold the puppy and then later go to pick up Toby he won't cuddle because he can smell the puppy, he will hold his head away from me. I guess I am just looking for reassurance that this will get better because I feel like I am being mean to Toby by bring a puppy (Teddy) home. Thanks for any help you can give me!! |
