| Since we adopted him at 15 months, there are a lot of unanswered questions !!! - What kind of place was he living at? Our house is small but there are plenty of green areas in our neighborhood -Was he potty trained? My bet is he was!!! I was impressed no messes since day 1, he actually has chosen his "place to do business"outside -Was he crate trained? Maybe? He sneaks under our bed from time to time, he can hold his pee all night and he doesnt seem to have separation anxiety. -Was he leashed trained? Me bet is NO!!! He pulls pulls and he transforms into a wild animal outside sometimes, looking for cats, birds. He does bark ocassionally to running kids and walker bys. Need to work on this! Indoors he transforms into a real life baby teddy bear, all kisses and hugs. -What kind of food he used to ate? A mystery, we have been trying different options. Usually we give him kibble for one meal (initially Royal Canin but looking into switching to Evo, Innova or Kirkland, not many options to choose from in Costa Rica). For the other 2 meals we have been alternating between wet food, raw meat, eggs, peas and vegetables. Need to educate more on this, its a confusing topic for us right now! He seems to like raw meat the most. -Is he happier than before? We dont know =( he has been in 3 households now (breeder, 1st onwer, back to breeder, us) , he seems to be happy hopefully we will gain his love for good. |

| In rescues we never know what their past was like, so much patience is needed. Some come with a lot of baggege that has to be worked on. Poor Otto 3 homes and now yours, his forever home. It sounds like he has adjusted to his new home and family if he is cuddling and giving kisses, sounds like a real lil sweetie. Yorkies are hunters, they will go after squirrels, rodents, birds so be careful when you are on walks, he will go after them, please do not let him off leash, once they are chasing an animal that is where their mind is focused on, they will not come back when called. He's a little beauty.

| Looking around my area I found a vet close to work that carries lots of Taste Of the Wild Flavors. I got samples to try for Otto. Lets see how it goes! They also gave me Purina Beyond samples. I called the Evo/Innova distributor but they dont import to Costa Rica anymore. Our market is dominated by Purina Dog Chow and Pedigree. I am not feeding Otto with those! I will try Taste of the Wild for one of the meals each day. |

| You should keep Otto on the food he was eating before you got him just until he is fully settled in. Changing food will upset his stomach unless you do a slow transition, switching from one food to another will cause diarrhea, reason for gradual food change. The samples you received from they vet you can use as treats to see if he likes it, but do not give him a lot at one time.

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk, as someone else said this is the BEST tread ever. I am so happy that you took a chance and took on a yorkie. My husband and I have no kids and our Lola is the love of our lives, he is so smitten with her, I giggle when I hear him tell stories to people we meet about how fabulous she is, so I don't think you are crazy. Otto is a beautiful pup and it sounds like he is one smart and loving yorkie. He is lucky also because he has gone from being second fiddle, to now being the center of your universe I am so glad your shared your story with us and look forward to hearing more about Otto

| I too have the same as the original poster. I have two Yorkies-BeanO and Milo and love them to pieces. Thank God I am retired and now am home most of the time with both my Yorkies. My Yorkies come first in my life. I am hooked. Yorkie's unconditional love, attention, affection can't be beat. In hind sight looking back (way back), had I known about Yorkies before I was married, I would have chosen Yorkies over marriage. Yorkies are the best companions I can have. I could write a book about my Yorkies. Looking for love in all the wrong places described me early on in life and I found true love that only my Yorkies can give. (A shrink would have a hell of a time diagnosing me! hahah). So, OP, you are normal and this is what Yorkies do to those that get them. |

| Hi guys, last couple of weeks have been hard as my mom passed away after being in the hospital for almost a month. It has been hard for Otto too as his whole routine changed, walking times decreased and he has been left alone more than usual, sometimes for 6 hrs at a time as I have been in and out of the hospital. One time I came back at 3 am , I was freaking out driving home and he was standing next to the window waiting for me. He freaked out in happiness when he saw me!!!! Otto has been a champ during this ordeal, no messes in the house , no crying, and he doesnt seem distressed and he is more than happy to get his old routine back! Couple of nights ago I broke down crying at night as I was doing a memory trip about my mom and little guy was so worried he woke up and proceeded to lick me for a whole hour and then cuddled up with me the rest of the night. I dont know how I can be more grateful with him, I have never felt such sincere love before. Here a pic with his friend Sussy! |

| In am so very sorry for the loss of your mother, dogs pick up our fears, sorrow Greif all emotions, they know when we are sad or ill and will come to comfort us. Otto senses your sorrow and is comforting you. He's such a good boy to wait patiently until you came home to walk him. I don't know who is the lucky one, you or Otto.
