| New dog with existing dog Hi guys - Need some advice please. I recently lost one of my Yorkies that I had owned for 8 yrs. She had a brother who I have had for nine years. I just adopted a male Yorkie poo who is 9 and weighs about the same as my other dog. I have had him about a week and they are getting along ok but not playing together. They had a few scraps about food and treats over the first few days. The new dog now doesn't want him to come too close. Although he allows my resident dog to sniff his ears. Do you think this will eventually work itself out or will they never be best buddies?? Maybe it's still too soon?? |

| Sometimes it can take even a few months. Just give it time.

| I posted on here when I got my second pup. It took about 3 weeks for the existing dog to start showing interest in the new dog. Now after 2 months together, they play together all day and occasionally sleep cuddled up with each other. Going on walks and training them to do tricks together helped alot! Make sure to give each dog their own space where they can be away from each other, and give them undivided attention separately when you can as well. |
