| Chewie did something concerning It's been a long week and I need to answer posts later today, but we are rattled. She has a vet appointment today for something else. Long story short dan tripped over her yesterday. He was so upset he didn't go back to sleep. she was fine. She ate fine. she played fine. she jumped off of her surfaces. she was under my desk, she's not to go under there, and I wasn't aware. bonked her with my foot, and I hate doing that so I ran after her- she of course ran, too. I went to get her, coming at her in a different way than usual, but I picked her up like I always do. I touched her LIGHTLY in the same spot I had JUST picked her up not 20 minutes before and she screamed. I've heard her do that once before with her ears. She has always been a bit sensitive with that area, and our vet warned us that we had to handle her ears or have issues. She just hasn't screamed before like that with that area. Bit at Dan, yes. Flinched, yes. She's had xrays. Can these little guys suddenly scream like that if they are high strung like she is? I am VERY, VERY, rattled. |

| Sometimes you can accidentally pinch or push an area and just cause a little issue and not really know it. I have ocassionally picked my older girl up and made her scream out because I think I must have pinched her.

| Rin will do this on occasion. We also took her to the vet. They saw no obvious injuries. I just feel like she is so tiny and if we startle her or move to quickly, she yelps in fear. Also, little miss Rin doesn't particularly like to be picked up, she is a more "I'll come to you when I'm ready" kinda girl.

| she did this today as well at the vet when they were checking to be sure. I was told it doesn't hurt, she just is very sensitive in a few areas, as "That's how Miss Chewie stinker is." Dr Cooper has a fantastic relationship with chews, so I trust her. She told me that when dogs have luxating patella they can be a bit iffy about those areas messed with. Yeah, news to me she had it, but it's only stage 1, so it's not a big deal apparently. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | SO glad all is okay ! I do think they could scream if/when, for example, we hit a nerve line of some sort (ie, like a "funny bone"), or a sensitive area for them (ears etc).

If I had seen it, the one question I would have answered first is the highlighted one...YES, they can scream like that. LOL my Olivia screams so loud sometimes, she scares all the pups AND me....Sometimes it is illness as she has had some ongoing issues; but good grief sometimes it defies any explanation. The scream that comes out of that little 4.5 lb pup is deafening. She is famous for torturing me when I groom her....just touch her feet and bam there she goes...I once had a friend over and she was doing some craft projects...when she got here I was just finishing grooming Olivia. She screamed and my friend came running, asking me what I did to her. I was like...OMG what did *I* do? LOL And let me add, she is not even high strung....just a prima donna.

| Our Bella has screamed when she thinks she's in danger. She's only done it three times or so, but when it happens, it really grabs your attention. She did it twice when she was playing with the cat, and once when Walter almost rolled over on her. We checked her over very carefully after each time, and she was her completely normal self. It's shocking when it happens, and you wonder how such a little dog can make a noise like that. It makes you be extra-vigilant. |
