| New To YorkieTalk Just wanted to introduce myself. I have a beautiful Yorkie named Violet that I just adore. She just turned 1 in April of this year. This site has been a blessing to me for the last couple of months. Therefore, I decided to join your group. There is so much information available and you are all so helpful. I just can't thank you enough. Over the last 5 weeks, I have found enough information to start home cooking for my girl. She refused to eat the dry kibble and was picky about the wet food. She LOVES her home cooked food and I enjoy cooking it for her. I do have a question for anyone who is also home cooking. Do they tend to drink less water on a home cooked diet vs. eating commercial foods? I don't see her drinking as much water although she is still going to the bathroom as much it seems. I'm still a bit nervous about all of this. I want to be sure she is not lacking anything in her new diet. VioletMom1 |

| Are you using a supplement and a recipe by a vet nutritionist? If not you must or you could cause serious health issues.

| I have been following recipes from a book that I bought through the Yorkie Information Center. The recipes all have protein, carbs, and veggies. We are currently experimenting with safe fruits trying to figure out what she likes. So far, blueberries are her favorite. In addition, I am adding KA-Calcium and Dogzymes COMPLETE (compilation of their Dogzymes Ultimate, Dogzymes Digestive Enhancer and Dogzymes Phyto-Flex) from Nature's Farmacy. I have copied the description of this product from their website: DOGZYMES Complete contains the following powerhouse ingredients for joint support: Glucosamine, Chondroitin, MSM, Yucca and Hyaluronic Acid. DOGZYMES Complete also contains our special herbal blend formulated to support the soft tissue associated with the joints - tendons and ligaments. The multi-vitamin pack contained in DOGZYMES Complete includes but is not limited to Vitamins A, D, E and C along with amino acids and omegas. Finally, the DOGZYMES Complete is rounded out with probiotics and enzymes for a total of 6 Billion CFU/gram. The probiotics and enzymes help the body in more ways than one. Traditionally thought of as just an aid in digesting food, more and more research is coming to light on all of the benefits of having probiotics and enzymes in the diet, everything from balancing body pH to detoxing the kidneys, controlling yeast and even working with the body to help boost the immune system. |
