| Confused & hurt Well my Mia is gone. She was only 4 years old. I brought her to the Vet on a Saturday because she vomited. She was examined and blood was taken. I got a call Sunday morning with her results. The doctor started the conversation off with telling me how surprised he was with the results. Immediately I had that feeling of dread come over me. She tested positive for Lyme Disease and was suffering from kidney failure. This was beyond anything I could imagine. There are so many details to this story - too many to write. A week later she was gone. The pain and hurt was unbearable. I did exactly what many say not to do. I got my little Rosie soon after. Although I continue to mourn my loss, I will say Rosie is a big comfort to me. She is doing everything but saying she loves me! It has only been a month since Mia and I still have my moments dwelling on all the 'what ifs'. However, I thank God I listened to my inner self as Rosie has been very easy to fall in love with! Now for my confusion....do I get a little friend for Rosie?? As if now she is an only child. I have been reading all about Yorkies again and see so many positive reasons for getting a second one. I'm just wondering if it's a good idea or am I just trying to overcompensate for my loss. I will say my husband and I are both retired and have lots of time on our hands to devote to two little yorkies. |

| I'm sorry for your loss. If you think two is for you I would go for it. I think I would also get the Lyme vaccine and make sure your using a good tick preventive.

| I am very sorry for your heartbeaking loss of Mia at such a young age. There are many pros and cons to having more than one Yorkie. Having 2 is twice the grooming and vet care. Having 2 makes going places more challenging. Having 2 is twice the love too! Does Rosie have experience with other dogs? My first boy Max has an 'only child' personality, but he loves his brother Teddy. They liked each instantly, but we still had some challenges. Having 2 strong males get along is almost a miracle. I've read the same about having 2 strong females.

| Sorry for your loss. It's really your choice to get another one. I hope she feels better, as well as you. |

| So sorry for your loss, I lost my Troy at 4 years old and it was devastating. I'm one to wait a few months before I make the decision to get another to allow myself to process however some jump right back in to owning a pet after a loss. If you have a yorkie already and think your Rosie will adjust well then go for it.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I'm so very sorry for your sudden loss ! How heartbreaking and tragic. As far as another yorkie, just look inward and follow your heart...it knows what to do.

| So very sorry for the loss of your sweet Mia at such a young age. Follow your heart in deciding if two are good for you. Rosie would be delighted to have a BFF and the entertainment and laughter you will get in having two is un-measurable. I had a pack of 3 girls all 3 years apart all are now passed, the two older ones were sweet, loving and passive girls, the baby was the bossy dominate one, maybe because everyone babied her including my two older girls. Go with your gut feeling.

| Oh my -- so very sorry for your loss. Each time I have had to put a furbaby to sleep, I've had another in about a week's time. It was never planned that way, just the way a new one showed up that needed me to take care of him or her. I'm a newbie for a Yorkie -- she was a stray that was given to me exactly 1 week after going through a horrible ordeal with a Jack Russell who had nasal sarcoma and a few other issues. I was completely devastated. Then I met Sylvie, and I knew the second I saw her she needed me. You'll know if you see another dog (whether or not it's a Yorkie) if you should add a friend for Rosie. |

| I am heartbroken for you that your precious Yorkie died so suddenly. At least she's no longer suffering or lingering in terrible pain. Only another Yorkie-owner can truly understand how dear these little treasures are to their humans so you have a whole forum of co-mourners who understand how you feel and also mourn her. Mia will be forever loved. Little Rosie will be a God-send as I grieved and waited 5 years before getting my Tibbe after losing little Jilly. If only I'd had him sooner he could have helped comfort me in so many ways as I gradually healed. Hopefully, your pain will begin to ease as you learn more of Rosie and remember Mia to us. Hugs to you.
