| **Treats for training pup** Hello everyone, I began training my 13 week old pup for a couple of weeks now and have only used his kibble (Royal Canin) as treats. He is doing well with training, but I think he is becoming bored with the kibble as rewards.....He has not had anything but his kibble. He also begins puppy kindergarten in 2 weeks and the instructor is asking me to bring lots of treats for training - am not sure what I should begin giving him for his classes. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

| Boil some boneless chicken cutlets, great for training treat, just a tiny morsel is all you will need for each reward, take 1/4 or less of shredded cutlet in a baggie with you for puppy kindergarten.

| Oliver and Gretchen's favorite treat is cat food. LOL Oliver kept trying to get back there and eat it so I started using it as treats. They love it.

| Jackson is a picky boy. His fav treats- Bare Bites Pet Botantics Primal freeze dried When we took agility, our trainer hated this too. I tried it once and then little pieces would fall sometimes so the next dog would get distracted trying to find the remainders. Whoops.

| I use Cheerios, boiled chicken breast (it's true that it's messy), and Merrick's dehydrated lamb lung fillets (it's easy to pinch off teeny tiny pieces without being messy) https://www.amazon.com/Merrick-Texas.../dp/B00EDJCICW. From my own experience, I'd caution against using treats heavy in liver (from any animal). Liver is very yummy to dogs, because it's very rich in nutrients. When fed too much (as you probably will during a training class), your puppy may end up with the runs. Mine did. It was so sad - Scottie got sick after each training class. The instructor got very irritated at us. https://www.vetinfo.com/liver-treats-for-dogs.html After several upset stomachs, I switched to lamb lung. Just note that if fed too much of any treat though, they'll get upset stomach regardless.
