| How many of you have a wiry yorkie? Or yorkie with long wiry coat. Maybe? I would like to see some photos of wiry yorkies.. Lulu does not have a long coat, is only 6 months, his coat is wiry , very shiny and never mats.. I found here something: A puppy that has a wiry coat texture, with a tan that is a very bright red gold by four to five months, will as an adult do one of two things: First, if the puppy as it approaches five or six months, or at least by nine months, shows the transition from black to blue, the coat texture will soften to a silky texture. If the black coat does not show this transition to blue, the adult dog will retain the wiry coat which will never attain any great length. Lulu is still black on his back ,this waiting is painfull! ) i just wait to see how will be! He is not pure yorkie but i love him so much!

| Wiry Yorkie Our 2 Yorkies are 8 months old and are brother and sister. Their coats are shiny and textured and has grown very slowly. The black is midnight shiny and the tan is reddish. They both also have long muzzles, not round. The parents were typical Yorkie look, the Dad was gold and black and the Mom was tan and black. In researching their differences, I found red leg Yorkies and Wire hair Yorkies. The articles stated that these Yorkies were a throw back to the original Yorkie and should not be bred. Their coats would never reach the ground, the hair on the head and legs would always be short and the deep black and red colors would always be true and would not change. I would love more information if anyone has researched these Yorkies. Your little one looks like mine. |

| And honestly I now prefer it that way. Her hair doesn't mat, and I don't have to spent much in grooming. Only baths and that's it. I trim the hair in her sanitary areas, legs, paws, and head. I think she might be red legged, but I don't know for sure.

| No, CKC which I haven't even bothered to send in a registration. I wanted healthy socialized puppies as our pets. They were 18 weeks old when we brought them home. I took them to our long time vet with shots and deworming documentation. He confirmed they were very healthy, friendly puppies. We played with the Mom and Dad along with the puppies in the breeder's spotless home. We made a great choice to bring these sweet Yorkies into our lives. I will be happy if their coats stay shorter along with the deep colors. They don't mat and love to be groomed and bathed. Our older AKC Yorkie has a cotton coat and is professionally groomed every month, so saving two more grooming fees would be awesome! We will just have to wait and see! |

| Anaprez Thank you! She is very sweet! I hope Lulu will grow his hair as long as your baby! Is good we don t need to much grooming) We usual do the grooming for Percy and Toby, the other 2 dogs we own, cavachons, and with yorkies no experience..and for sure, the hair looks very nice, is very shiny, is just that when you touch very coarse..and i agree , better wiry then cottony, as long they are not silky!
