| I don't know where in NJ you are (I'm in south Jersey) but I know of a good one in Dover DE. If you're interested I'll pass along her info. (I believe she has a fairly recent litter as well.) |

Thing is, I didn't want to get a dog as in right off the bat.. You know what I mean? I didn't want to do an impulse buy. I was hoping to wait 2 months to pick up the pup so I can have time and see which is the best breeder around, and other important stuff. Let me just say, while I have taken care of our dog and the previous ones before her. (I use to live in an area with a lot of strays, I'd pick them up, clean them, feed them, and rehome them) I wasn't the one to ever pick out a dog, or even pick out a breeder.... It's always been done by my sibling(s), or parents.. Now I am able to take on such responsibilities and I have quite a lot of free time on me I wanted to take one of my own. So what all of this means is while I am not new to taking care of dogs, I am however new to picking them out, researching breeders, etc. I don't even know what the average asking price is for a yorkie-- unless it's a byb.... From a breeder, I don't know what to expect in terms of price, what kind of stuff I have to bring(documents?) or if it's just a give them cash, and they just give you the dog no questions asked. My question is, I understand that for yorkies usually the smaller ones cost higher, but what if you want one that's at least 8 pounds or so? What can I expect it to cost from a good breeder?

Thank you, your insight has been helpful. But why 2,500? Is that for show quality pups or?

(It's not especially up-to-date, but my dad chats with her on facebook and she does have a new litter that's a few weeks old.) Her email is listed on the site (lilyashly@aol.com) and I can vouch that Linda does love her dogs and is an ethical breeder. We went to her house after Sunny's litter had their first shots & picked him out. When we brought him home she had taught him his name and he was able to use a pee pad. Even (almost) 7 years later she remains in contact with us because she genuinely wants to know how Sunny is and that he is in a loving home. If you have any other questions feel free to contact me.

| Just the high end of the range you can go even higher for show quality.

| Well reputable breeders breed to better the breed and that means the dogs they breed should be perfect examples of the breed and that's not floppy ears. I'm not against floppy ears I have one with them.

You know- i think if there were people who bred things like that or even cross breeds it would at least give them a normal or cheaper prices one whose in hood health. I say this because i hear a lot of people dissing breeders of designer dogs... AND yes they are mutts- but i nor my mother would ever regret sasha our cockapoo. She's the best thing that came into our somewhat sour lives. Im not saying that we shouldnt strive for standard of course we should but i honestly believe if the dog in question is amazing in personality and health then let them pass on their genes. At one point there was no such thing as a yorkie. It all starts from somewhere. As long as they arent gross like the "american bully" which is an abomination. They're ill bred and full of health issues just for aesthetics... My point is as long as you dont trade visuals for health::: as long as health isnt compromised. But again i get what you're saying.

Shelters: pitbulls and chihuahuas for the most part... I wanted a yorkie or a yorkie mutt. But i prefer a yorkie, i always wanted to go through a breeder, as we used to foster dogs.
