| Soft food Could someone please suggest a good food for a dog who just had 12 teeth pulled? The shelter from which we adopted him last week said he had been eating Mighty Dog since the surgery, but he won't touch it here, so I boiled chicken with rice until we go to the vet today. She will recommend some food, but I thought you all might know what is good for and a food he might like. My vet usually recommends some form of Science Diet and so far none of my dogs will eat it. Thanks. Gew |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Do you have PetsMart near you? They do have some nice foods - check out Wellness or Natural Balance etc - buy a few different canned foods and perhaps rotate for him.

| Nutro Lamb and Rice It's a middle of the road priced food and Bella likes it we went to it because of allergies we also use the kibble small bites. I did use Caesars as well and my dogs really liked it but with allergies I had to switch Bella Lily still eats a bit of it with her morning kibble. Good Luck with your new baby. |

| I appreciate all the suggestions. He was so neglected that I want something he can eat with so few teeth but also very high quality. He weighs 7 pounds 6 ounces so he is over the Yorkie goal weight, but his ribs stick out. I doubt he was bred to any standards, so maybe he is too big for the standard. Well, I go to the vet in a few hours and she will check him over and his records. I hope I can make his next years better. He is supposed to be about seven. Maybe she can tell. I just know he is a dear. As I said, my dogs never eat Science Diet which is typically recommended. I have never experienced yorkies, just collies. The other concern is the glop they both get even though I wash them daily. This, too, is new to me. Thanks again. Gail |

| Piper, when she decides to eat, like FreshPet; she's all about chicken. |

| Well, my vet said Royal Canine for Yorkies. She said the shelter's vet did a great job and that Max had enough teeth for kibble and, in fact, it was necessary to keep the others. She did a more specific Lymes test than the snap test that had showed him as positive. The results should be in by Friday. Now the disturbing news is that she says he has a luxating patella, in fact two, but one much worse than the other. I need to learn about the condition asap. |

| Weruva is pricey ($3.50 a can, I think, individually) but every dog I know LOVES it. It's made in a human grade facility. Looks like real human food, too.

| I feed my babies Primal and suggest Primal. Great quality and no fake vitamins and additives.

| The additional lymes test came back and it was 62, anything over 30 is active Lymes. So he's on doxycycline. The luxating patella are grade 2 and 3. My poor little man seems fine. However..... he is eating the Royal Canine with fresh boiled chicken and rice for now. Thanks for all your help. I don't know what to worry about first! Gew |

| Honest he runs like the wind, jumps faster and higher than the two year old. I really adore the boy. He is so sweet. I knew adopting seniors brings history and with rescues often a lifetime of neglect ( his teeth showed that), but knowing the facts and then knowing a little man with bright eyes and lots of love to give are two different things. One week ago today he came home. We are so blessed. Glad the family who surrendered him believed he should go because he wasn't affectionate. Gew |
