| Puppy Zoomies Hi everyone My puppy now 13 weeks old gets these puppy mad bouts of running across the house, mainly at 12 am. So, excessive panting makes her so thirsty and she drinks a lot of water then she pees. Yesterday she peed about 4 times from 11 pm to 1 am. And I keep hearing , we should not give our puppies water in the evening, so they can go through the night without peeing. How can I do that if she is so thirsty because of her puppy madness. She is also sooooooooo excited and wants to play , take rugs and run and growl. Any suggestions? |

| I'd let her drink when she's thirsty but that's just me. I just can't stand being thirsty myself so I'd hate my baby to be thirsty, especially after vigorous exercise. Maybe you can redirect her to playing ball or tugowar with you on the couch or bed to try to curtail her zoomies.

| Consider yourself lucky. Sadie starts it between 11:00 and 11:30 at night, just when I want to go to bed. |

| Why am I lucky. She starts that at 12 and continues to 1 or 2 o'clock in the morning. |

| Max does the same thing. I just give him as much water as he wants. If I didn't, he'd just bang on the bowl anyway. I try to walk him and keep him well exercised in the day to prevent any wildness at night.

| Not to sound rude or mean lol, but I am sitting here smiling at all your zooming midnight babies and remembering mine and how much I miss my girls and their zooming puppy days. I just LOVED their wild crazy zooming play.

| Taking water away especially when she is exercising would be cruel. The zoomies are normal though.

| Tibbe only dropped his zoomies 2 years ago and I'll have to admit after reading this thread, I kind miss them, too.

| Are mine the only Yorkies who didn't have the "zoomies"?! I can't help but picture this and laugh too (sorry!). I had Monroe in bed with me since she was a puppy and she slept through the night. She didn't have access to water during that time but also didn't need it. I definitely wouldn't deny the pup water. |

| Yes, I've been trying to figure out what to call that behavior. Pretty much my little baby does this late evening around 9 pm. I'm usually still awake at that time. |

| Am I the only one that gives the puppy a bed time? Zoomies are normal. You train her not the other way around. So if she doesn't have excessive exercise, no need for late night water, no accidental potty. Or, you let the zoomies continue, let her have her water, you go outside/to the pad at 12-1230AM and give praise when she goes.

| Tibbe got them until about age 8. Suddenly one night I just realized he hadn't done his zoomies for a while and hasn't since. He mostly spends the time he would be zooming on his little stool in front of the big living room window, watching for and barking crazily at the neighbor's cat. Don't know which is cuter - the zoomies or a terrier with a cat just on the other side of a pane of glass!!!
