Stripy 5-month-old Hi, My 5-month-old looks a bit like a tiger at the moment. His side and back fur is black-tipped silver. I trimmed his face when the fur got too long so his face is mostly golden at the moment. Will it be likely that he'll be mostly silver or reddish gold as he gets older, losing the strange stripy appearance? (My other Yorkie is 3 years old and his back and sides have stayed dark and I don't recall ever seeing black-tipoed fur on him.) Thanks. Linda

Hi Linda Do you like the black or are you wanting the coat to be one colour. If you want just the silvery under coat you could trim the coat and the silver would grow out. I think he looks fine its not a show coat but that ok. My girls have mostly black saddles but underneath there is some silvery gray they have never been trimmed just the bottom length. Where did you get you baby.?

So his fur won't remain blacktipped (and stripy) as he loses his puppy fur and as I gradually cut down his fur as it gets warmer? He's definitely never going to be a show dog but I have to admit to being happier without the stripes :-) His mother is all one colour -- a gold shade. He's a pup from our neighbour's Yorkie's first litter. She has a lovely disposition and was healthy so altho we know he won't be an absolute beauty, he wasn't a bad choice. But stripes? I hadn't seen that before. He's seriously sweet though and very athletic. Linda
