| Yorkie Rescue Good Morning everyone, My name is Jack and I live in Virginia. Back in April we had to put down our dear Sadie girl. She was a 110 lb Yellow Lab. That day broke my heart. She was 16 and her body was just giving out. My wife and I were devastated. 9 months later still mourning we stopped by a local dog shelter, and found a sad old boy that looked like we did, heart broken. He was the oldest dog in the shelter, under weight, scruffy, and sad. We took one look at him and said we want him. I know that he is old, but he needs love, and what ever time he has, it will be nothing but quality, and top shelf. His name is Harley. He is 12 years old, missing some teeth, scruffy, and little did he know he was about to embark on the trip of his life. I asked the attentent why was he here? and they told us that his owner gave him up. He couldn't keep him anymore. How does this happen? are you kidding me.... Well we want him, and he is coming home with us. We have had him a week now. he is everything you could ask for in a dog. He sleeps in our bed, goes for plenty of walks each day, and gets brushed everyday. Today he is off to the groomer. I don't know how that is going to go, but knowing Harley the way he is it will be just fine. What a wonderful breed of dog the Yorkie is. He is so clever, fast learner, and makes us laugh all the time. This is the first time we purchased a dog that came with his own AARP card. We love him and couldn't be happier. Instead of us rescuing him I believe he rescued us. Thanks all for listening and hope to chat with you in the future. I will post picture of this little guy when he comes back from the groomer. Have a blessed day Jack |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh Jack, you have made my day/week/month...! Bless your big hearts! As a shelter volunteer who sees seniors given up, I always have such a special place in my heart for those who adopt these special little beings. Thank YOU ! You are the best of human beings, in my book. I'm so thrilled to hear of his new life with you, and feel you are both just SO lucky! Just wonderful. Would love to see a pic of the little guy (to post pics here, just make sure they're less than 200 kb).

Yorkie Yakker | I'm sorry for the loss of your Sadie. God bless you and your wife for adopting Harley. That's one of the most selfless acts I can think of. I'm so glad to hear that he's bringing joy to your lives; you undoubtedly saved his. |

Harley did so well at the groomer. She absolutely loved him. He is such a gentleman. I can't get over what a sweet dog he is. I will try to post a few pictures later today. | |

| Thank yo so much for rescuing him. I rescued a 7 yr old yorkie (that was used for breeding and was in horrible condition)a few years ago and it was the best thing I ever did. She passed away after only 6 years but I made sure her life was full of love. Enjoy your yorkie. |

| I also rescued a little female (YT) June of 2014 ... used for breeding, month after we brought Tess home find out the breeder has over 30 females. I was working at our local Vet Clinic at the time I brought Tess home. The only way the owner would let me have her was to pay the C-Section bill ... I would do again in a heart beat. Tess came into the Clinic full of fleas/poop/and you could count just about every bone. None of the five babies lived! Tess still has trust issues but she is happy and loves our Boston Terrier girls. :~) |

| Another senior Hi Jack, First, let me say how happy I am that you had Harley and you, him, for so many years. Our little Spenser came into our lives eight weeks ago from a wonderful Yorkie rescue. We lost Icy, a rough collie, herder and therapy dog, in July at 16. Our two remaining collies, also therapy dogs, missed Icy so much. However, when my daughter brought over, Audrey, a two year old Yorkie, to stay with us while she traveled on business, they were pups again. So, at Christmas we contacted our yorkie rescue group and applied for a senior. Into our lives bounded Spenser, a 7 pound 10 year old little guy with lots of energy, albeit with rests in between. He's had some health issues but each day he is more healthy and adjusted. May your new little one fill your life and days with joy and affection. Aren't seniors the best? Gew |
