Who's a good boy?? https://www.yahoo.com/celebrity/stop...171817005.html While we stop using the baby voice on humans after they've grown out of their diapers, many of us keep on using it no matter how old our dogs get. However, according to a new study, we should really stop once our dogs grow out of puppyhood. Gizmodo reports that in a study that's been accepted for publication in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B, puppies respond to baby talk, but full-grown dogs are apathetic to your cooing. |
1 Attachment(s) Piper and I have serious conversations, silly chats, and wonder together about the ways of the world. Our talks cover the spectrum on many levels; we like to make decisions together. I am with Pipe, the way I am with humans I love and enjoy. Neither of us seem to be the worse for it..! I, too, read the article and always appreciate learning of the "latest scientific" discoveries. And I always enjoy your posts and point-of-view.. Below is Piper reacting to my point that it's "just a short ride in the car, that's all..." |
I get that look a lot when I'm saying something to the wife and Dexter is wondering if he's going to go for a car ride!! I don't baby talk just silly talk to him |
Yep silly talk here also lol. |
We do a combination of normal adult and silly talk. Max was born mature, so we mostly straight talked with him. Teddy is a bit of a clown, so we introduced the silly with him. My favorite silly thing is when I return home, my dad speaks for the doggies, calling out "Maaa -ma!!! Maaa- ma!" in a high pitched voice. The boys go nuts. :D |

My daughter will ask me what Emma is saying, which I do in a soft, high pitched voice like a cartoon. Its always a hoot. I don't think I ever spoke to any of the dogs in baby voice as I never did it to any human babies. I think they develop language better by speaking normally. |
