| Size and weight 6 months finished growing? Moose is 6 months now and 7 lbs. I'm wondering if he's done growing? I need to get an airline carrier for him but I don't want to get one too small in case he winds up being 10 12 lbs. When did your little babies stop growing? Is it usually at 6 months or later? Thanks! I've also posted some updated pics on my profile for you to check out as I am still not sure that moose is pure due to his antlers hehehe. I love them but I'm so curious to know what he could be mixed with if anything! Let me know to ur opinions! Love! |

| To answer your question, at 6 months old NO he has NOT finished growing, usually they are full grown by a year old, some will grow until 1 1/2 years old. I saw no pics in your album to see if he's a mix.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Technically, yes, should be finished growing...but I still saw some growth in all of mine after 6 mths of age. He may be done...but as far as buying a carrier, I'd account for more room just in case.

How much did Moose weigh as a baby. Wylie's Mom wrote technically they should be finished growing at 6 months, however, that is not what I found when I had pups from 8 weeks old, mine gained weight and grew in size until they were a year old I had ALL their harness in all sizes lol. All MY pups (4 in all) as adults weighed 9 Lbs, 2 @ 13 Lbs and one at 17 Lbs. no tinys at my home lol.

At 13 weeks 4.5# now 6 months @ 7# I think he will get a bit bigger, hard to say how big he will get. Have you asked your vet?

| It really depends on the lines the pups came from. Some won't be growing until, after one year of age. Even Yorkies who stop growing at six months will fill out more and gain weight.

| Weight Boomer is 2 yrs. and weighs 9 lbs. Is this a good weight or is he over weight? When we got him at 18 months old he was 6 lbs. with no hair, his owner (who we recused him from) shaved him close. We are letting his hair grow all winter just trimming him every 6 weeks. Just not sure what there wheight should be. |

Some people however disagree with what all the diagrams show, and they tend to prefer what would probably be called slightly overweight. I know some people who refer to it as being a conformation weight - I guess maybe because there is a trend to have show dogs at conformation dog shows to be a touch overweight. I'm not too sure about that though, but it's kinda what I gathered speaking to some people. Regardless, I'd take a good look at the diagrams to get an idea. And if you're still not too sure, just ask your veterinarian next time you're at the clinic. | |

| About growing, my little girl Maezie, between 11-12 months of age, got taller, leaner, and just bigger overall. It was a growth spurt and a pretty late one at that. She ended up 5.4 lbs despite charting 3.5 lbs throughout most of the first year. So it is possible to get some growth right around the one year mark. I think that was a bit unusual though. I'm extremely happy about it though. I don't have to worry about her being so fragile anymore. Well, I still worry but not as much. Last edited by airplane; 01-10-2017 at 06:59 PM. |

| As most mentioned, they usually continue to grow until after 1 year. After 6 months, it's possible that they've reached their full size in terms of bone structure / framing, but usually they still gain muscle mass and weight until 1.5 years or so. Scottie was pretty fragile until 1 year. Then he began to fill out and gained more weight after and now he's much more sturdy at 3 years. Casie just recently turned 1 and I'm waiting for her to fill out too. It worries me when they're so fragile! And agreed, don't be too focused on the getting the "right" weight, but rather the weight to frame ratio.

| My instructor in my vet assistant class said that with small breeds they generally stop growing around 9 to 10 months.
