Yorkie Talker | Morkie Ears I know she's not a full Yorkie, but to me she looks and acts just like a Yorkie except she is white and tan/brown. My question is about her ears. I don't mind if they don't ever stand up, but I'm wondering if they're trying to. She is 13 weeks old and her ears keep flopping backward. I'm thinking they're trying to stand up but the hair is weighing them down so they flop backward. I've been thinking about shaving the tips of her ears to help them stand up but I'm concerned that they will just flop down and look weird. But If they're trying to stand up, I don't want to accidentally train them to flop backward all the time by letting them do what they're doing. Is this what they do when they're trying to stand up? |

| Welcome to YT, and congratulations on your new baby. Yes shaving the ears, getting the weight of the hair off their ears will help IF her ears want to be straight, also taping them will help. I have never taped ears, hopefully one of our members who have experience in ear taping can advise how it is done. Have fun with that lil baby.

| Welcome to YT from Arizona!!!! Your baby is adorable and ears up or down or one up and one down she will be the love bug you wanted. Taking the hair off should help if they are intended to be up.

| Awww, she is just WAY too cute. She looks to me like she's going to have the down ears of the Maltese in her & in my opinion you should just leave them that way. Her ears may go up & down during teething & this is normal in any breed, even the floppy eared breeds will come up part way during teething. |

Yorkie Talker | Coco is 18 weeks old now and her ears are down. Her ears aren't pointed. They are round like a mouse's ears! They aren't going to stand up. I had actually tried to shave the hair off the tips of her ears, just to discover that they are round. They only appeared to be pointed because of the long hair. She looks a lot different now, because most of the hair that I took off was blackish. Now her face/head is mostly white. I didn't shave her ears all the way down to skin. I stopped when I realized her ears are rounded. It has grown back out some but I don't think her ears will be black again. I wish I had left them alone, but she still looks adorable! |
