| Hello Hi, I am Caron and my little Mr is 11weeks tomorrow, and called Captain Leo. He's my little baby. I never had such a tiny puppy before. He is s Biewer Yorkie cross with Yorkshire Terrier. I am not sure am doing this post thing right or not. I am just having a biting problem. He gets very nasty. Where can I find advice on this please, I have looked through your lists, but can't find anything. Thanks for reading |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk and congratulations on your baby boy, Captain Leo! Biting can be a problem with puppies. They use their teeth to explore their world, and they tend to play rough. Ideally the littermates and mom teach them some boundaries. That is why most sources recommend leaving Yorkies with their mom until 12 weeks of age, to teach bite inhibition. Teething will also cause puppies to be bitey. Use keywords and phrases like "no bite." Remove your hands or the target of biting and replace with a toy or safe chew. You can also yelp like a pup when he bites you. Another trick I use for unwanted behavior is withdrawing attention. When my boys misbehave, I announce that I am leaving the room. I go where they cannot follow. When we are playing and they get too aggressive, I tell them to settle down. If they don't listen, I get up and leave, ending playtime. Be firm, but not angry or frustrated. Good luck!

| Welcome to YT and congrats on your new baby boy. He is just a BABY, he is not being "nasty" he is being a baby and has to be taught what is acceptable and what is not. As Maximo stated it is best a puppy stays with it's mom and litter mates who will teach them hard biting is NOT acceptable. You now have to play the role of momma dog and teach him this. My own personal experience with many 8 week old "wild" lol puppies was to firmly say "no biting" and walk away, or stop the play. You and your family must be consistent and use the same command words. Maximo has given you excellent advise. "Be firm, but not angry or frustrated".
