| Popeye the Sailor Yorkie In June of 2016, Lucy and I rescued a stray Yorkie from the Phoenix-area Humane Society. He was found on the side of the road by EMTs and they brought him to the Sunnyslope Humane Society facility. His left eye was hanging out from the socket and he was fairly messed up. They tried to save the eye and couldn't. Cleaned him up and put him up for adoption. After some time he was sent to anothe facility which is where we found him. His name? Popeye of course. Popeye is about two years old and weighs about 7 pounds now. Was 6 when we adopted him. The vet said 7 should just be about it. Complete set of shots and he has been chipped. Popeye appears to be normal in all other respects. So all, so far, is good. Well kinda... Popeye is not housebroken, but he is working on it. He does strange things. For example, the expansion cracks in driveways and cracks in general seem to fascinate him. Nose down as far as he can get it and follows them like crazy. Is this normal? Also loves to explore dark areas under bushes and shrubs. He was sleeping and hanging out in his carrier for the first couople of weeks, but hadrly ever goes in it now. Appears to prefer under the recliner or overstuffed chair. Again I assume this is normal for a Yorkie. Bedtime is with us. Loves to play as late as midnight. Up at 7 AM or so for his first potty break. Al and Lucy |

| Bless you for rescuing this Angel. He sounds typical Yorkie, lol. They were ratters originally so going into dark places is normal I would say. His personality will continue to develop as he gets more comfortable with his people. Potty training is a consistent thing, take him outside to the area you want him to use and when he goes he should get Lots of praise. Treats for this action is up to you but if you start of with treats you have to wean off of them Very Very slowly OR they think they are getting cheated, lol. They are Smart little dogs. Congratulations and welcome to the world of Yorkies. Just a thought........we LOVE pictures!!!!!! I have not managed those yet.

| Bless you for rescuing this little guy, yep, that's a yorkie trait, snooping under bushes, tracking prey lol. I have a rescue,he was a city boy, leash walked. Now he lives in the country, off leash in the yard. The first day off leash free to roam he sniffed every blade of grass, every rock. Then the hole digging began lol. The cracks in the driveway lol, he probably smells the earth between the cracks, reason why he tracks the cracks, their sense of smell and hearing is phenomenal lol, my boy HEARD ants building an ant hill under an inverted 6 inch clay pot that he was stalking lol. Enjoy this lil guy and watch him grow into a confident little character as trust in his ppl grow.
