| Bobbie has fleas :(! Hi all Bobbie has some how gotten fleas found one on his belly, tried flea shampoo but no good got some of them but hes still itching... I've tried running a flea comb through his hair but not finding any. I didn't want to use spot on and go natural as I am scared he'll have a bad reaction but needs must, unless someone has any ideas. Anyways he's 4.5kg in weight and I have a choice between these 2 Advantage products (Read this is the best flea spot on without a prescription) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Advantage-S...tment+for+dogs < 4kg dog https://www.amazon.co.uk/Advantage-1...tment+for+dogs 4-10kg As you can see he's on the brink of inbetween, do you think the <4kg one will be strong enough as the 4-10kg one may be to strong? Thanks. |

| Hi Same thing happened to me 2 weeks back, found 1 flea on Ruby's belly and couldn't find any after that but I didn't want to take any chances so I brought Advantage 4-10kg, as my Ruby weighs 5.5kg, haven't seen any since. Ruby tends to have a good itch from time to time but trust me if she had fleas I would see them, must be her long hair or excitement . I would get the 4-10kg as your little yorkie weighs 4.5kg which is over 4kg. Advantage has got the best reviews in the UK so I would stick to that brand.

| Thanks for the help. I'll double check his weight before ordering as I don't want to give him the higher dose if it's not needed, would it hurt him? Found another one on him before and I have about 6 bites on the bottom of my legs, so need to do something. |

| We use K9 Advantix II Flea & Tick Control Monthly Treatment for Dogs because it not only kills fleas but it repels them, many spot treatments don't repel fleas. it works fine, they have a 4-10 lb option perfect for most yorkies. I know you want to go natural but many terriers are prone to severe flea allergies and will destroy their coats with the biting and scratching, you may have to bite the bullet and try the spot treatment or a pill from the vet, who can also give you allergy pills to lessen the itchyness and give relief. Before you use it, be sure to give him a good bath and kill the fleas and eggs on him and start fresh, you also may need to treat your carpets and yard if you have them. its best to do those two things in combination to really stop the problem. |

| Hmmm sounds like my girl recently, I found 1-2 flea on her and not another again so far, and her skin was itching so badly. She also gotten an ear infection as well. I tried to do a natural remedy for the ears but it actually made it worse. I plan on making Brewer's yeast treats for her to help with making her less appealing to fleas even though I just got her on a new chew tablet to kill fleas and ticks :P But yea, I just went ahead to the vet to get her treated and she's doing so much better now. We suspected flea allergy. All it'll take is one flea bite and it can cause such fuss >_< Vet suggested another flea treatment (as mentioned the new chew tablet), a chew that'll last 3 months on her and it's cheaper than the previous stuff I used. My vet told me that some brands that been around awhile are still using old formulas and lots of fleas these days are starting to build resistance. Might try looking into Holistic Vets or see if any vets near ya offer holistic services as well as the standard.

| I would talk to your vet, just out of curiosity what heart worm potection are you using? I only ask because Ive used bothe Trifexus and Sentinal, they're birth control for fleas, they also protect against heart worms as well as other parasites. so imho I felt like its the best parasite control there is out there. But also the vets have a pill the will prevent fleas for three months which is a great thing to have especially during the summer months. |
