| New Yorkie Questions Ok, I am picking up my little baby this weekend and bringing her home. She is coming with a lot of great stuff (collar, leash, puppy pads, a pet taxi, bed, shampoo, a brush, and lots of good food for her). She is currently 3 months old and I don't know what all to get her. Does anyone have any good toy suggestions? Anything she may need that I need to pick up? I just want her to come to a loving home with everything her little heart will ever desire! You all were so helpful during the finding her process...now that I found her, I need help again. I am just so excited to get her that I can't keep my mind on what she will need. I even went through petsmart today and wanted to buy EVERYTHING! Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks you all!! Oh, and for all of you that helped me out to find her and wanted to see pictures...I will post some this weekend!! I am a picture fanatic so there will be some good ones! THANKS AGAIN!! Casey |

| She is coming with a lot of great stuff! I just buy everything. I have so many beds, I can scatter them all over the house. I love tennis balls and the little rope toys. My babies love MY beanie babies, they steal them and carry them everywhere and fight over them. They don't seem to come apart and they go through the washer and dryer nicely, too. The skunk and porcupine are their favorites.

| If she is not sleeping with you then get a little teddy bear or some kind of stuffed animal for her to snuggle with. Also get some chew toys like nylabones or something. It sound like your getting most of the things you need I just go crazy buying all my "wants"!!

| Squeaky toys Buy latex squeaky toys. Aggie's about the same age and she loves these squeaky toys. Make sure to purchase the ones that s/he can squeeze and make sound on her own. I bought several rubbery toys for her but she'd loose interest very fast. So far, the squeaky toys work very well. Chek Wal Mart, I bought it there a while ago, two of them in a bag for $2.99. |

| Nutrical, too! If you aren't getting that. Always good to have on hand. I hate those squeeky toys, when you step on them, you almost have a heart attack thinking you killed your baby. But a nice bell on the collar is great, especially at first when they are so little and you are not used to them. They tend to squat and sorta hide instead of getting out of the way.

| I looked at everything pink already!! I did pick up a little "puppy purse" in pink while I was there. I was thinking about a tennis ball but she is so tiny that I am afraid she wont be able to pick it up. My mom has a maltese and said that when she first got her baby, she bought her little cat balls with the bells and stuff in them to make noise and peek the curiosity (without the catnip!) and she loved them. I have a cat too so I am afraid the cat will end up with them all. We have already picked out a name! Her name is Ritzie Zeta Rolen. The people we are buying her from named her Ritzie because she was a very expensive Christmas gift. They have 3 kids and felt she deserved more attention so she emailed me about getting her. Zeta because I am a Delta Zeta sorority girl...my sisters picked that one out. And Rolen is my soon to be last name. The lady I am getting her from said she really doesn't know her name so we are going to call her Zeta...it is more "me" and very cute. |

| I LOVE her name! Zeta is very unique and trendy! I like Ritzie myself. They sell the little tiny size tennis balls, they are about the size of cat balls. But don't worry, the cat may not get ANY of her toys away

| Congrats on getting to bring home your little girl! That's so cool! Can't wait to see pics of her! I'm sure you will make a great yorkie-mom! My husband is from Nashville...well, Gallatin actually. But his grandparents still live in Nashville off of Gallatin Rd. I have 2 friends who live in Hermitage. What part of N'ville do you live in? I went to college near Knoxville but am always visiting Nashville to see my hubby's family. We live in Charleston, SC though....it's beautiful here.

| Congratulations! I loce the name Zeta. Also, wanted to mention a harness is much safer than a collar....maybe you can swing by a pet store and fit her for a harness after you get her? Have fun!! Angie |

By the way, you all are giving me ideas I never thought of! A blanket will be great! I even have a teddy-bear I can put in her crate with her (she is already crate trained, YAY FOR ME!) that smells like me. My mom said it makes them feel better when it is a familiar smell like an owner, they feel safer or something. I will also go to the pet store on Sunday to find a harness. I do have a dumb question though. My fiancee is so scared about stuff that "could" happen. If we do get a harness, should we still keep a collar on her with a tag just in case even if we use the harness? I mean, it seems like it would be very helpful and will make him feel better about it. We have a lab in our fenced in back yard and he is so used to bigger dogs and them being able to get away...I think he is still in that mind set so I am not sure. | |

| you do not want to hook a leash to their collar. also, do not catch and pull them to you by the collar. It can collapse their trachea, a common problem in yorkies.

| I wanted to name my Princess Chai Ritz Bitz but my daughter named her Chai. You can get the miniature tennis balls. this is what my dogs love.....they like the plush toys better than the latex or rubber ones too. |
