| Color changes- what age do they quit? I'm mostly just curious. Kaira is not purebred yorkie, but she's inherited a lot from her yorkie parent. Long, soft hair, and it's changing color. She's solid black, but now areas on her haunches, shoulders, top of the head, and back of the neck have started turning steel colored. It does seem to be spreading. I don't care what color she is, I'm just curious when it will be the "final" color. Interestingly enough, she had surgery in one of the steel grey areas, and the scar grew back pitch black. So now she has a black stripe on her grey leg! LOL. She got hurt recently on a black area, needed staples, so I'm curious if it will grow in a different color too. Guess I'll find out soon enough.

| I've been told that their colours usually stable off between 2-3 years old, but then as they enter their golden years, the colours continue to lighten... During our dog walks, other Yorkie owners have told me how their yorkie's colours keep switching back and forth between haircuts/shaves, which I found interesting (i.e. the silver/grays then black then silver/gray etc). Though these Yorkies were not "standard" looking...

| Our Bella was done with her color change by one year of age, but she may not be typical. Her hair is a little darker right after grooming, but that's because her hairs have darker roots that get progressively lighter as the hair grows longer. I've heard that the hair can grow back darker on injured areas, but it usually lightens up again after it is healed. |

| Max and Teddy were between age 3 and 4 when they settled into their adult colors. Teddy is lighter and his saddle hair grows in dark, but then lightens, like your girl's stripe. He scratched and broke a bunch of hair at the back of his neck last year and it grew back dark. He has stripes at his shoulders.

| Kaira turned two in may. So she must be nearly her final color. Lol!

| Kaji will be 8 years old next month. He's still changing color. My little old man likes doing things at his own pace.
