| Training treats Our vet recommended keeping some of Dixie's regular food out of her daily allowance to use as training treats. Needles to say Dixie is having none of that. She eats really well but now when I am giving her a "treat" she spits it out and won't have anything to do with it! So - I need some suggestions for training treats.

| Boil some breast chicken and dice them to little little cube. Around 1/4 inch cube. Take a spoon fool of coconut oil and microwave it with the chicken. Leave it to cool. This will probably one of the best treat. The other is small cube cheese. "Don't give a lot daily or she'll gain a lot of weight!" I usually use this when I take them out to a park with a lot of scent. It's extra calories for them to burn. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I would just use cheerios. Or, get dog treats that you can tear up further into smaller pieces.

| I buy lamb lung and break into teeny tiny pieces. My dogs love. No extra ingredients or fillers. |

| I use Zukes mini naturals. If not those then the buddy cloud star liver ones.

| Thank you for the great suggestions! Too bad I can't find anything that tastes like grass since she seems to want to eat my whole lawn when we are outside

| I like cloud stars chewy buddy biscuits because you can tear them into several pieces. With my puppy I am also using wellness puppy treats because they tear into 6 pieces.

| I buy Merrick's lamb lung fillets and rip them into teeny tiny pieces. They're clean because they're dry and snap really easily without crumbling. I also use Cheerios as treats too; my breeder has used Cheerios to train all his dogs that perform in the show ring. Boiled chicken breast works great as well - it's just a little messier if you're using it during walks. And last, I've made my own sweet potato treats by slicing them up into 1/4" slices and baking them in the oven at the lowest temperature for 2-3 hours. I would try to stay away from any treats that are too heavy in liver; too much liver causes upset stomach.

| Thank you for this question, I am a new owner and was wandering this as well. I have been using cheese, but was concerned how much was okay to give in a days time, I have also used lunch meat (it works really well you can tear it into little pieces easily). I think I'm going to try the cheerio's that would be good and easily carried on outings. LuvmyZoe' |
