| Just one day off food??? Is this food he has been eating and he is just pouting because you cut off treats?? Dont make that mistake of jumping on the dog food merry-go-round and spend hundreds of dollars and months and months of time, switching and swapping and changing up food....you will be sorry!!!! He will get over it, he will get hungry, and he will eat! Dont mess yourself up with this food craziness!!! |

| I bought a new food today because I don't like the quality of kibbles and bits so we switched to blue (small bag) just to see but even with the little amount left in his old bag he won't touch it or the new stuff he just stares into my soul while I eat!

Maybe you can mix some healthy human foods with it to convince him? Favorties of my extremely picky dog are chicken(boiled or baked) baked potatoes and carrots. Raw egg yolks. Sometimes scrambled eggs. People foods arent horrible as long as they are the right kind. I dont want to encourage all sorts of changing up dog foods... But with my jack russell i had to no choice. He goes on strikes and stops eating foods after he has been eating them for a while. He will go a couple days... Get sick, bloody stool from upset stomach and i have no choice but to start something new Despite what some people say all dogs wont just eat once they get hungry enough. Certain dogs will go soo long that you have no choice but to start offering different things and find something they like. I usually keep a couple cans of high quality canned dog food on hand too. Eddie also likes those natural balance dog food rolls. My dogs are eating earthborn holistics great plains right now. And eddie (the picky one) seems to love it for now Hope you find something that works! | |

| Typically our day goes I fill up his bowl with his old food and then give a few pieces of Cheerios on it and he'll pick those out, then for lunch I'll give him a piece of cheese because he's begging for my food and we will do tricks for that, and then dinner I don't give him anything of mine unless say I am using a baked breast for something (salad mainly) then I'll shred him a piece and he'll pick it out of his food...late nights he will then sneak back to the kitchen and eat the leftover food in his bowl! But now that I've changed it and won't give him the usual meals I've been hand feeding him as that's the only way he'll touch it and even then I have to beg him to try

| Oh, man! We both have little canine cuisine con artists, I'm thinkin'! Piper is very much the same way with food and is as stubborn as the day is long! Lately I've been mixing a bit of that Cesar dog food (grilled chicken) with her Nutro Natural and she literally gobbles it down and licks the bowl clean. I'm wondering if it's ok to give her Cesar dog food? |

| I got him to eat with a piece of cheese! A half of a bowl! But I'm wondering if using wet food would be best to get him to eat I mean I have these weird noodle looking food bags but he doesn't care for them much

| This is a fun one! I have a very picky eater (my 18 month old Zeus) and a ravaging pig (my puppy Percy). Zeus has to be on sensitive stomach food. He was on Science Diet and liked it at first, but then didn't like it very much. Now Percy needs sensitive stomach food. The only sensitive stomach for puppies available for me to purchase in store was Blue Buffalo Sensitive for puppies. They both love it. They won't touch the other food. Since they interchangeably eat each others food (even though we try to prevent it), I got Zeus the small breed Blue Buffalo Sensitive. That way, they will be on the same food when Percy is an adult. I believe Zeus eats only to live, while Percy lives to eat (he will be one that we have to watch his weight). Zeus is not the least bit interested in food; however, what he eats, he is picky about it. He won't touch the Science Diet, and unfortunately, because of his stomach issues, we can't let him just go until he's starved enough to eat what is there. He went two days without eating and was throwing up yellowy foam. I'm not going down that road again. This is only the third food we have ever tried. Good luck! |

| I have fed Acana, Orijen, and Fromm (currently on Fromm) over the past 2 years; they're all quality grain-free dog kibble and I would highly recommend any of the three. If you're willing to pay more, freeze-dried food patties are hard to resist - Primal, Stella & Chewy's, etc. In terms of pickiness - Scottie was king of pickiness (and sensitive stomach). I found that if you make your dog think you'll eat his food, he'll be more inclined to eat. For example, if Scottie refused to eat, I'd turn my back on him and pretend to eat it with really yummy slurping sounds; he'd then beg me to feed it to him. Or, before feeding him, I'd do a deep inhale and smell his food and say mmmmmm I'm gonna eat this up before you get to (you gotta really put on a show). Or, make it into a game of whatever sort you can think of. Some say that putting a bit of organic unprocessed coconut oil can make kibble more appetizing. I actually hand-fed Scottie for his first year and then had to 'train' him to eat on his own after. Now, he's good with both. Except I have to be in the room and watch him eat, or he won't eat it at all.

| I, too, tried various games w/food, including bringing her dish into living room (where I eat), but since Piper is such a little gamer herself, she was on to my moves. In fact, I think she had 'em figured out before I came up with them, then she just sat back and watched me act ridiculous!!! Arrgghh!!! |

| I went through different types of food for my teacup Yorkie. I tried blu, natural balance and he like Royal Canin but I switched to what they were giving him in the pet store. Which happens to be something he really likes. Health Extention for him the little bites .. He loves it. Now I buy him health extension chicken wet food |

| Gidget is my second Yorkie. My first one, Teddy, was not a big eater. In fact, when he was in the 3-6 month age, he didn't eat much at all. I would put out 1/3 c of food in the morning. Sometimes, it was gone by the end of the day and sometimes he finished it the next day. I left it out all day for him to graze. I was sure he was going to starve to death. Had his weight checked and everything was fine. Now I'm going through the same thing with Gidget. If I put a drop of two of chicken broth on it, she will sometimes eat it and sometimes not. Quite worrying about Teddy and he died of kidney failure at age 14. Gidget has not trouble with her pees and poops so I'm going with the flow. Oh, well..... |
