| stinky house I have 3 peebodies in my house. They are outside trained, but 2 of them will occasionally pee in the house, especially when it is raining outside. After being away several weeks at on the job training, my son came in last night and said he can smell the dogs. We recently had almost a straight week of rain. So, the peabodies were having a hay day. This is a big deal to me. I do not want to be nose blind. I have an area rug in the living room. The rest of the living area is either tile or wood. I make sure to clean any "mistakes" with vinegar to kill the bacteria and odor. I have a bissell, but I don't think it is getting rid of the carpet odor. I suggested having the house professionally cleaned. My husband and son argue that this won't help. How do you all keep a fresh smelling house?

| Are the accident spots limited to the area rug? The urine is likely penetrating the rug pad, if you have one, or the hardwood underneath. An enzyme cleaner is usually recommended as best for removing the scent. I have had good results with Hoover oxy carpet cleaner on bile/vomit, which I would argue is a harder scent to remove. Haven't needed it in a very long time, so I do not remember the specific name. I think it may have been formulated specially for pets. Maybe someone else will have more suggestions for what to use on the hardwood flooring.

My furniture is all leather. I doused it all today with leather cleaner and gave it a thorough cleaning. Maybe it's absorbing their B.O? I also washed all the throw blankets today and used vinegar in the wash. Is the Hoover cleaner for a wet vac or dry vac?

| It's a wet vac. Carpet steam cleaner solution. I checked the bottle and discovered that it is a Woolite product made for Bissel, but works in all carpet steam cleaners: BISSELL 32 oz. Woolite Oxy Deep Pet 2X Concentrated Steam Machine Formula Blue 65Y71 - Best Buy

| Rain does seem to bring odors out from EVERYTHING. I have an air purifier in the livingroom. I think that actually helps. I also use the hoover carpet shampooer maybe every other month on the area rug. That's where Zoey tends to have her "accidents". |

I also use an air purifier when needed. I don't have carpet (except for my bedroom which they're not allowed in), so I guess it's a little easier for me to maintain. I have a routine of washing their feet with dog shampoo after each walk (because Scottie pees all over his feet every single time). I think this really helps keep all the smells out. And if they start to get stinky, it's bath time (usually every 2 to 3 weeks, depending how dirty they feel)!

| I have the same problem with Max marking. We had to get rid of the carpet and put in a porcelain floor in the family room. It looks just like hardwood and mops up easily. Cleaning the carpets, no matter what I used, was always a short term answer.
