| Another updates: Hi again guys. Just here to update you on my puppy hunting. So... as some of you may have read, the puppy I've been waiting for, since her birth, had inguinal hernia, so I've decided to change to next litter.. couple weeks after, there came a new litter, but apparently they were premature :/ I was really hoping that they would make it, but I was notified today that girl didn't make it... I donno, maybe its a sign. I thought maybe I should just wait bit more on getting another puppy.. Just a little longer.. So I decided to just go on a short trip.. (just couple months.. well... 4 months LOL) to visit my mom, and my aunt who is coming to visit my mom from korea The breeder I was getting the puppies from originally actually referred me to her friend, who also breeds/shows yorkies. I've actually talked to her awhile ago, and I know she has amazing yorkies. Just a state over though. So in late Fall, I'm in line for one of the puppies from her. I just hope that she'll be healthy and good to go She checks her puppy parents for knee, heart, and genetic tested for PRA/PLL/DM. I was actually happy that breeders talked things over and my deposit got transferred over Back to my trip So, I'll be visiting my mom in Hawaii. I was planning on going to Korea at first for couple months, but I thought my puppy might want to meet his grandparents. and brother I thought he may enjoy the beach scenery too (I probably will freak out if he gets all sandy and dirty from the water though haha) One problem with the trip though, is that he gets extremely car sick. He used to throw up a lot, but he still drools and his body stiffens up. I'm not sure what I should do for his flight. Some people advised me on benadryl, but I don't want to give him any unnecessary meds. I tried to offer him some fresh ginger before, but he just ran away from it. lol Any tips/suggestions for my baby? |

| I wouldn't be flying around with a puppy. This will cause a lot of stress on the puppy. Not including this, you're going to Hawaii and then Korea? I hope you bring enough of the same food so that you will not change the puppy diet. I'm pretty sure they don't have the same pet food in another country? Changing a puppy diet will cause a lot of stress too. This can eventually turn into a nightmare! I think you need to do a lot more research on raising a puppy before just buying one and thinking it is a toy. Puppy/Dog comes with a lot of responsibility. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | For some reason, I'm really confused. So, you don't yet have this puppy...but you know he gets carsick and you've tried giving him ginger...? How did you try ginger if you don't yet have him? I'm confused. Whatever the case here, if you have a pet that gets extremely car sick like this, then you absolutely DO need to give meds - and I'd get one that works from the vet - not just ginger or benadryl. Carsickness is just misery - so please don't take it lightly by giving some random OTC meds - please get something specific from the vet.

| Oh. I meant to say I'm going on a trip with my current puppy I have. Sorry for the confusion. My mom is also feeding her puppy in hawaii primal, which is what my baby is currently earing. @lola7133, I'm not sure what you mean by me thinking that puppy is a toy. Not sure how I gave you that kind of impression there. @wylie's mom, the puppy im going on a trip with, its the same puppy that you advised me on primal food on my last post lol. When my other puppy flew, who is now in hawaii with my mom, the vet actually suggested benadryl also, since she gets neevous, but she also says she doesn't recommend it because airline does not want any kind of sedative. Tried ginger while back since that's what she also suggested too. Saying it could help a bit. But.. he hated it. Lol Last edited by Deviruchi; 05-24-2016 at 04:26 AM. |

| I thought any dogs or cats travelling to Hawaii were required to be quarantined.

| @magnus, vet also suggested dramamine, but as airlines doesn't want you to medicate dogs, we decided not to.. so i thought something natural, like ginger would do good, but he hated it @canana, they do quarantine the animals if the requirements are not met. i've been preparing for his flight ever since I've gotten him months ago got his rabies shot, and his blood sample was sent to KSU and everything |

| Interesting! So would your Yorkie be applying for the 5-day-or-less quarantine? I'm just curious...not that I could ever bring mine, since my vacays to Hawaii are usually only 5-6 days long.

| Yup! 5 day or less one. I actually went to hawaii with my other puppy about month or so ago.. (I forget when exactly) and I got my puppy back right away. It is a bit expensive.. 275$ application fee and 100$+ per each airline used for the puppies, as well as vet fee for anything prior to the flight (2 rabies shot unless they have it already, and sending blood to Kansas state... lol) but I think it'd totally worth it. I was told that sometimes it takes 5 days or less to actually get a puppy if not all documents were not received correctly or something.. so if you do everything right, you can get her back right away I used Alaska air, the only airline that allows puppies to be in cabin to go to hawaii.. and when you land, they will take the puppy briefly to the quarantine section to be examined.. and if all passes, you can get her back within like 30 min or less |
