| Temaril P & Hycodan Hi all my wonderful yorkie people my baby is on temaril p and hycodan since Saturday, she starting getting a very bad cough so I took her right away to the vet because it was pretty bad and her nose was stuffed.... after reading what happen to the other user on here who lost her 3 year old baby...i am quite scared in losing my baby is only 10 months....I was hoping who has had experience with these medicines... the doctor took X rays and did not see a problem with the trachea he only said her bronchi was irritated due to seasonal allergies, dust and recommended an air purifier ....he did not say she needs to be on these medications for life, but this is the 3rd time she has had problems with coughing, first 2 times we gave her antibiotics...and now she is on those 2 medications, within 4 days her cough stopped...her nose cleared...she had a stuffy nose too..sooo going back to my question, please, what has been your experience with these medications? I am worried about it affecting her liver...I have read on here that some of your pups who are on these do need lab work every 6 months...so I am hoping you guys can guide me...the Vet seems to be right on it since the cough has stopped for now...she will be on hycodan for 7 days and temaril p until all pills are gone...thank you for all your help! Please know what I will do anything for my baby to have a happy healthy life...

| I've used both without a problem. My dog takes high doses of Hycodan for a collapsing trachea every 6 hours. He's old and has been on tons of diff meds including temiril P. He has a good liver.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | If this is for allergies and it truly is allergies...you have other options too. But, both of these meds are very, very safe and effective. What you really have to assess is whether these allergies are seasonal or year round. If more like year round, then your kiddo would be more suited to using either Atopica or Apoquel. You should read this whole thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...tart-here.html
