Yorkie Yakker | Adding bodhi to nitro?? ATTENTION PUPPY PARENTS WITH TWO YORKIES.... I need your advice!!! So I picked up my Nitro last Thursday.... and when we went to get him my mom fell in love with another puppy boy that's in another litter at the breeders. So I guess it would be Nitro's cousin.... Nitro was born the 7th of February and this other little guy was born the 21st of February. So they are about 2 weeks apart. Nitro will be 10 weeks on Sunday and this little guy will be 8 weeks on Monday. So my mom wants to pick up her little guy next week and bring him home. I'm hoping it will help my little Nitro adjust better because he will have a playmate. BUT I need your advice... will it cause issues with them being two weeks apart? I'm hoping Nitro is still young enough to not be so rough and to adjust with another little one pretty easily... Could anyone give any experience that was in a similar situation? THANKS! Nitro's mommy and maybe soon to be Bodhi's sister? |

| A couple weeks difference in age is not an issue....SIZE could be! SOME puppies at 10 weeks old weigh 3 lbs, and an 8 week old baby could weigh just 1 lb....just watch size difference.....you dont want the larger baby to over power the little guy.....even tho it is often the littlest one that will steam roll all over the larger litter mates! They will be fine together....Please note I am just addressing the question you asked...I will not go into how I feel about tearing enfants away from their mommas at 8 weeks of age! |

| 1Lb 12 oz. my cup of coffee weighs more then that lol. Like yorkiemom1 advised age is not a prob. weight could be with a tiny like Nitro, they will rough house with each other big time, but ohhh the fun you will have with 2 terrorists lol. Supervise closely at play time.

| If you choose to get a second puppy you will need to work overtime to prevent littermate syndrome. They do not have to be actual littermates to get it.

| I got my two within one month of each other. They are exactly one month and 1 day apart in age. Everyone warned me about them only bonding with each other or them causing double the trouble, etc. but I have to say it was the best thing I could have done getting two at the same time. Being so close in age, they're like best friends! They play together all the time! They are bonded with each other (and bonded easily, more easily than they probably would have it that hadn't been so close in age) but they both also bonded with me. That was not a problem at all. I think it's nice for them to have each other. |

| Also...addressing the size issue. My first one is double the size of my second (first is 7 lbs, second is 3.5). When I brought my second one home he was just 1 pound. The first one was about 3 by then. Sometimes the smaller one would yelp during play when the first/bigger one was too rough but it became less and less frequent quickly as the first learned to play less roughly. Puppies play but they don't want to hurt each other. My first one became aware quickly that he was bigger and he is very gentle with my smaller one even when the smaller one plays rough!
