| Why is my yorkie salivating after bringing home a new puppy? Hi all! So brownie has a new sister Maltese! We brought her home 2 days ago and she wants to play with him but he is so scared of her. He runs away from her as she chases him. Ever since we brought her he has so much saliva dripping from his little mouth. Why could this be? He never goes outdoors only to visit family members Also he also salivates the same way after the groomers! Last edited by cheilyroman; 04-12-2016 at 08:51 AM. |

| Congratulations on the new addition to your family! Excessive salvation can be a sign of nervousness, which it sounds like in Brownie's case. Adjusting to another doggy in the house can take some time. Be reassuring to Brownie and give him a place to escape his new sister if he wants.

| Congrats on your new little baby. I agree, Brownie is just nervous. Puppies do not smell like dogs lol, so Brownie doesn't know what it is lol, soon they will be BFF you'll see. Like Maximo advised, make sure Brownie has a safe haven where he can get away from the baby and relax.

| I agree that he's nervous. Uni did the same thing at her first dog meet up. She was practically foaming at the mouth! I would show Brownie that he is still #1 by greeting him first, feeding first, putting on harness first, etc. This will reaffirm his position in the pack. The puppy should be used to sharing and waiting as part of a litter anyway, so you don't have to worry the puppy's feelings get hurt.

| Each dog is different. Teddy had a puppy scent for almost 5 years. Max was born an adult and never really had any scent.

| My king of the house, Zeus, was not eating very much when we first brought Perseus home. I am happy to report that all is well now, and Zeus is waiting for Perseus to get out of the ex-pen all the time. Zeus still has a problem sharing, but I'm hoping that gets better. For a timeline, we brought Percy home on 4/19. Good luck! |
