| Combat boots anyone? My almost 3 month Gidget has decided that my acchiles (?) heels are the perfect teething places for her. Yelling "ouch" doesn't work and neither does saying "NO bite". My poor heels are really suffering. Any suggestions or do I just need to wait it out. When I sit down, I can see the delight in her eyes as she realizes that my ankles are in full view. |

| I completely understand! When Max was a tiny puppy, he thought it was great fun to nibble my bare toes first thing in the morning. Gentle as he was (he had great bite inhibition at 13 weeks), it still freaked me out. 1) I'm sort of grouchy in the morning, especially 5 am, the time I would wake up to take care of his puppy needs 2) Would you believe that I had a fear of being bitten by small dogs before I decided to have a Yorkie? Now they could take a finger and I wouldn't flinch, not that I would let them. Anyway, I cured him of his game by making him stay in his xpen while I brushed my teeth and put on my socks. He quickly learned that if he wanted his freedom, he had to stop nibbling my toes. If you use an xpen for this purpose, be sure to do it nicely. No angry scolding. I would say to Max, "Uh uh UH! No bite or back in the pen." You can also wear socks or house shoes to discourage her until she grows out of the habit. Be sure to give her toys and safe things to satisfy her puppy teething needs. Good luck!

| The small Kong toy cured this at our house. The toy is made of rubber and it can be filled with a treat stuff that looks like cheeze whiz. We never use the filling, but the toy is the perfect teething aid. When Bailey starts teething on something we don't want (us, the cabinets, the coffee table....) we get her interested in the Kong toy and that will keep her occupied for a while.

| I've tried to distract her with several chew toys (including the kong) but when she decides to aim for my heels or my hands if I'm sitting down, there's no distracting her. She definitely has a mind of her own. I keep some of the chew toys nearby so I can quickly get one for her to chew on. Oh, well, welcome to my baby Gidget. As we know, she too shall pass. |

| Uni still does it when she is excited and we are going down the stairs. Usually means we are going for a walk. If I scold her and tell her to go down the stairs ahead of me, she will, but if I don't say anything, she will nibble on my feet each step that I take down the stairs, and we have three stories here.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | She's so very young, and really only just beginning to learn manners and boundaries - this will take a while. When she nips...make a sharp loud yelp sound, or shake a can of pennies loudly, or use the Bark Genie (get on Amazon) for the sound it makes, and redirect her to a toy.
