| Hi I'm new Thanks for welcoming me. I'm so happy to find this forum! I adopted a yorkie in the fall after losing my yorkie and maltipoo a month apart over the summer, both 15. My new baby is wonderful, but was diagnosed at 6 months with g-2 and 3 luxating patellas. I'm devastated. The breeder said it's from "jumping". SMH. I adore this little pup and will do whatever is necessary to repair her little knees. Whining over. I look forward to great conversations here! |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk. I'm sorry for your loss of your senior Yorkie and Maltipoo last summer, so close together. Happy to hear you have another baby in your life. How sad that the breeder is not taking any responsibility for what sounds like must be a genetic condition! I'm not an expert on LP, but I think it is doubtful that grade 2 -3 in both legs in a puppy would be from jumping. Consult an ortho specialist for the best advice on how to proceed. Lots of people here with LP experience, so I'm sure you will get some good advice and support here.

| Welcome! Don't let that breeder tell you it's from jumping. It is genetic. My puppy, now nearing 16, has two grade 4s. She had surgery at age two on one leg but they didn't want to fix the other. Over the years I've wished they had just fixed it, but she has done very well without it. If I had a puppy with grades 2-3, I think I would see a board certified ortho vet for an opinion on whether surgery is best.

| Yep, my vet arranged it, but the ortho wants to wait until she stops growing. Little brag: she may be "leggie capped", but she's the smartest dog I've ever seen. |

| Welcome to YT! I agree that the breeder is feeding you a line of BS on the problem being from jumping. But you have your sweet bundle of fur now and so a trip to the vet to find out what can be done is in order! LP or no, these little guys are so much fun!
