Sleeping My yorkie , cannot settle, seams to have trouble laying in one position for more than 5 mins. He also likes to sleep with his head on basket, and the rest of his body out of it. He seems to want his head higher . Any body got any ideas why !!

I would be most concerned/attentive to the issue of restlessness. Is this new with him? How old is this baby? I have babies that love to sleep with their heads up on a pillow or the side of the basket/bed, but they are not restless and unsettled....THAT would be my concern. SOMETHING is bothering him....it may be pain, nausea, fearfullness, etc., especially if this is a new and different pattern for him. Is he bloated? Did he have a change in diet? Did he eat something in the yard? There are millions of possibilities....you have to narrow it down to realistic possibilities, then start a process of elimination. Tomorrow is Monday, if you can not pin point, accurately what the issue is, he needs to have a vet visit....some people may recommend to "wait and just watch him closely"....what that means is watch and see if it gets worse, which if it is going to do, I can PROMISE you, it will be in the middle of the night, requiring an expensive emergency vet visit, usually with vets you do not know and they dont really know your dog! I am a "controlled crash freak"....I like to call the shots and get out ahead of emergencies....I would be at my own vet tomorrow if I could not definitively resolve the issue, not just a guess or a "wait and see" stance.

I totally agree with YorkieMom; your little one sounds like he is trying to get comfortable. Piper sleeps like a little ragdoll--flopped this way and that way; little noggin hangin' off the couch; her little body twisted liked a pretzel. I used to try to reposition her into "more comfortable" positions (my viewpoint), but she'd always twist herself back to some weird position like a little contortionist and that's how she stays! Again, despite how it looks to me, Piper is quite comfy and sleeps like the proverbial log!

I agree too. When my yorkie could not get settle it was a sign of physical discomfort. She was later diagnosed with liver shunts. If it is only once, could be just some minor issue like gas but if it increases in frequency, it's time for a vist to the vet.
