| Has she been spayed? If she hasn't, and she's going into heat, that could cause behavioral changes... |

| I agree, either first heat or a different physical issue. A big change in personality/behavior can be a sign of an ailment or injury.

Please resond, I am freaking out a little... Thank you |

| Has she been around any male dogs at all? If she is only 13 months old, and you have seen blood twice before, that doesn't sound right. I've never had an unspayed female before though. I agree with Phil about checking in with the vet. Perfect time for the 1 year checkup anyway. Keep us posted!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Please take this kiddo to a vet asap as something could be wrong here -- she could be in pain or something. Perhaps it's just a heat, but you should be sure...

| I'm also thinking possible pregnancy or false pregnancy. Definitely time for a trip to the vet ASAP. |

| This happened to my neighbors dog the day after being spayed. She was threee when she was spayed and never had a litter. The day after her surgery she kept one of her stuff toys close to her and was very aggressive when anyone came near her. The vet said it was the change in hormones from being spayed. They had to take away her stuff toys for a week until her body adjusted to the hormone change. She did go back to herself after. Your dog may be coming in heat and the hormone change is causing her to act like this. |

| A 13 month old un-spayed female would have 2 heat cycles at this age, if you saw on two occasions swollen vulva and a bit of blood she was in heat.If her nipples are swollen she could be going through a false pregnancy, reason for protecting certain spots in the house and being aggressive. I have had unspayed females but they never acted this way and their heat cycles were right on mark, 6 months apart. If you are not planning on breeding her PLEASE spay her. I lost two girls that were not spayed to Pyometra, all my other females were spayed. I agree with above members, get her to the vet for a check up, if she is producing milk I am sure there are meds to dry it. Good luck and please keep us posted on her.

| I'm thinking false pregnancy as well. That is most likely the cause of the guarding. So is this her third heat or second heat? Two times for her age is normal, but three times means she either started her first heat very early and/or her cycles are happening too frequently. Is there any possibility she has come in contact with an unneutered male?
