| FLEAS!!!! omg, help!!! Tinkerbell has gotten fleas . I called our breeder AND vet, ( she has her first appt a week from tomorrow). Both said ultimately since she is just now 9 weeks old to just keep giving her baths in dawn dish soap and let her soak for 5 mins or so in it and pick out all the dead fleas I can find and drown the lil suckers. The vet also suggested getting a flea spray, spraying it on a washcloth and gently wiping her down. He said he will take def care of it when I bring her in. Is there anything else I can do? I think they are coming from our cat and my wife's hedgehog. We've treated the cats and the vet told me last night there is a small animal spray I can get for her Hedgehog, (who knew??). The vet also said to goto petsmart and they have one or two products gentle enough besides the spray we can get, but to make SURE we tell them she is a baby and so tiny. Does anyone have any suggestions or input??? |

| Fleas are crazy bad this WINTER . I went through this just a few weeks ago. Be oh so careful with your baby and sprays etc. inside the house, she is very young. Dawn dish washing liquid works very well, but it is also very drying for their skin, use a good conditioner. With her being so young and tiny when you soap her up wrap her in a warm towel for the 5 mins the vet told you to keep her soaped, they can get sick with sore throats etc. Treat your yard and hit it hard, and in 3-4 weeks hit it again. It is extremely important to treat your yard! As far as inside the house vacuum everything, floors, couch, chairs under furniture etc, then empty the canister or bag and get it out of your house. Wash everything that you can, bedding, blankets, pillows, etc. I also shampooed the carpet in the bedrooms. This is almost a daily process until they are gone. I feel for you, I am just coming through it and it seemed like it happened over night and it was an invasion of the fleas . BTW Front Line is useless anymore, I had just put Front Line on mine right before the fleas showed up. Apparently fleas are no longer responding to it, at least not SC fleas I HATE fleas, have never had a problem before and flipped out when I seen them. Just please be very, very careful with such a young baby, they are sensitive to so many things and my husbands brother treated his small poodles bed with flea spray and it killed her (YEARS AGO). Good luck! Others will likely share more advice that will be helpful too!

| We are just starting to see fleas here. Luckily, the little one is old enough to start Revolution, so we are going to be getting her on track with that today.

I think it has to do with the flooding that we have had here too, that and it has been very warm this winter, we really haven't had a winter, even though our winters are mild we typically have freezing night temps often and this year we haven't. Our rye grass (what we seed to keep yard green in winter) has burnt up, pansies are dying from warm weather etc. See...I am stressing because I don't think I am out of the woods with fleas because of the flea cycle...ugggghhh!!! Please let me know if the flea med works and what it is. We are currently doing Capstar, I had done Frontline on Dec.28 so they have just got to where I can give them a new med and not really caring for the reviews and how new the med is that the vet suggested. The crazy thing is my dogs don't go outside here at my house since I am paranoid about the owl and hawk invasion a few months back . I am at a loss as to how they got them it has my mind boggled!! As far as the herbal stuff...I am not very "green", just give me something to kill the crap and lets move on...If I could get my hands on some diazinon I can promise you I wouldn't have any fleas in the yard! But the EPA has made is so hard to get even if you have commercial pesticide license...it ticks me off If you know any farmers you may can get some and that stuff will kill whats in your yard...its good stuff!

HELLO ME!!! My brother is a jet pilot for a wealthy rancher with lots of influence and friends, who can get anything he needs for any issue he has....he got my brother stuff to put in his yard for insects/fleas/black widow spiders/snakes!!!......I cant use what he has because of my dogs...but my contractor uses Demon-Max....after 24 hours and it dries, it is pet safe, and it kills everything that crawls......those HUGE tree roaches, spiders, fleas, grubs, chinch bugs, doodle bugs, etc., etc., etc...... | Revolution is a pretty safe product and I have yet to see ANY parasite survive a dose of the stuff. You should also be vaccuming a LOT, but the revolution is so effective because it kills them and lasts 30 days. The fleas will still hatch, but when they bite, they all die. It's crazy. I've seen it in a few hours where they were dosed and then all of a sudden, the fleas were all dead. |
