| Yorkie Ear Question for my boy Toby I have a male Yorkie puppy that is 10 weeks old and his ears are not standing up like my older female. We got her at 4 months and her ears was already up. It looks as though they are starting to get a little more erect but not close to being all the way up. Is this something to worry about or will it take care of itself? |

| I'm no expert but 10 weeks is young. We got our baby at 11 weeks and his were up; however, our neighbor got his nephew months later -- his ears didn't go all the way up until about 3-4 months old. I know there are experts on here that can help you with the taping of the ears (if that is the route you would like to go). Adorable baby either way -- love the floppy ears. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | No, the ears will most def *not* take care of themselves. This will help: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pup...-stand-up.html

Senior Yorkie Talker | My girls ears were not fully up and I was told in time they would come around....they did not... We ❤️ Her little flops, they seem to suit her kind gentle spirit😊My boy had one completely up and one not so good, we taped them up and now they are both peaking tall. |

| Thank you for the replies and his little ears are starting to get stronger and standing about 1/3 of the way up. I'm going to try the tape method and see if I can get them all the way up. |

| I think I'm gonna hold off a little longer because his ears seem to be standing a little taller and he's gaining strength in them. He will move them a little. The breeder I got him from all of her dogs has the straight ears that stood up. |

| For what it's worth, our Bella's ears were not completely upright until 6 months of age, although they were starting to go up at 4 months. We did not tape them--they went up on their own. Bella was cute with floppy ears anyway, and we didn't want to go through with the hassle of taping. It turns out we didn't need to. |

| Some ears are heavy, thick, and they will not stand ....keep the hair shaved off the top 1/3 of the ear to lighten things up. Ears go up and down with teething....so it is not uncommon for these darling little ears to go up and down, but they will usually come up and stay as teething is resolved with age....if you think they are not going to remain erect, you can tape them....you need to do it correctly or the ear will be standing upright in what ever funny position you have it taped in....do this carefully and correctly so they dont look funny as an end result! |
