| newbie Good day Yorkie loving members, I am new to the group, but would like to say thank you as I have gotten so much information from this group over the past year. I have struggled to complete registration and finally got it right. Still finding my feet/fingers around forum. I am mom to two yorkies, Cody, who will be 1 soon yay :-) and I very young pup Jazz. I was silly to get pup so young and really struggling. Jazz is 6 weeks old. Going through threads to get some advice :-(. My niece trod on pups leg so rushed to vet...Looks like a bruise vet says, so we have her on pain meds and Cody is a bit depressed, not aggressive... Just not himself.. I am trying my best to see to both and it's tough:-( Have a Yorkieful day |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi and welcome to YT . I hope your pup heals okay. I'd be scared to death having a 6wk old puppy. It's even against the law in many states here...

| Good day,I had at vet thrice this week and all the vets said she is doin well. She is on pain meds for leg and taking weight on it. It's not illegal here but I am regretting buying such a young pup but on the other hand she didn't even know toys so at least she is in a better environment. She is eating better and vet said I should not give her formula anymore. She is adorable and full of life. My yorky boy loves her to bits and grooms her all day. He is back to himself too . Vet says the breeders sell at 6 weeks so they make more money because them it costs them nothing cos the mommy basically took care of them, then it costs new owner to do the vacs and food. Sad that there are breeders out there like that. But at least in our home she will be loved and spoilt along with our other fur babies. And she is not scared of squeaky toys anymore Last edited by Fowy; 01-07-2016 at 02:40 AM. |

| You need to be ever-vigilant and very firm with others in being very careful around this tiny baby. You were lucky this time and thank God for that, yes? You simply cannot be too careful with these little ones; they are very vulnerable. I'm sure you know all that, but it bears repeating. And I also know that you will have much fun with both the babies! |

| Welcome to YT. SHAME on breeders who sell their pups at 6 weeks of age. Shame, shame, shame! So glad the puppy is doing better with his leg. I don't know how old your niece is, but I would not let anyone hold your pup until she is a lot older. As JKPal says, you have to be VERY careful with these wee pups. They can get hurt very easily. The night I brought Lacy home, I was sitting in a chair holding her and she was fine for an hour or so, then all of a sudden, she just bolted from my arms. The chair was right next to the kitchen table, so she landed on the kitchen table, but if the table hadn't been there, she might have fallen to the floor and gotten hurt. That taught me a very valuable lesson, to make sure i had a very firm hold on her at all times when holding her. Good luck with your pup, a couple of months from now, everything will be much easier!

| Thanks everyone, pup is doing much better. I bought a second hand camping cot, which is a nice size for her,to keep Jazz in when I cant supervise and when we have guests over. She seems back to normal, but still keeping her separate from the older dogs unless I am with her to watch. My niece is 5 years old and she forgot there's new pup. She is normally very careful around the rest of my animals. I will post a pic of how my niece grew up with my maltese.I am very grateful it's just a sprain and we are extra cautious now. I don't let anyone pick her up because I am scared she tries to jump. Thanks for all the advice and concern. For now I only know how to post pics to my album. #sorry I'm still learning how everything works on forum |
