| I am a little confused about something As I had told you Spicey jumped off my bed about 2 weeks ago, and immediately started holding her leg up so off to the vet we go. The vet said she had LP in her knee and would need surgery . Since I live in a rural area I will have to take her to the city to have it done. No big deal . The vet said it would run 1500 - 2000 and if I waited til she was older it would be more. Well Spice walks ,runs and jumps just fine. She hasnt favored her leg at all since that day. I dont understand . Is this something that comes and goes??? She has always appeared bow legged and it is so cute. But now I wonder. My vet is one I have taken all my animals to for the last 20 years and she is a very caring wonderful lady. I just dont know if she has alot of experience with yorkies. They are a very special breed I have learned LOLOLOL |

| I just emailed this thread to my bf hopefully he agrees on getting our baby some steps, He just started jumping on and off the couch and jumps off our beds all the time and he thinks it's cute, but I kept telling him it's not good for his joints and he keeps saying I'm so over protective. No, I did my research on the breed before we got him and my step sons little sister who is 3 always picks him up and just moves around so quickly and I watch her like a hawk with him and he sais I'm being over protective cause I keep telling her to put him down or sit down with him. It's so frustrating when you do your homework and everyone acts like he's a regular dog. He's not he's fragile puppy and not a stuffed animal for 3 y.o. I get so upset.

| Just wondering now, I put pillows all around the couch and have him trained to jump on them but is this still going to be to hard on the joints?

Would he allow the 3 year old to carry a 6 pound cooked turkey on fine china walking about the house all by herself? How about a gallon of milk? A pitcher full of red kool aid? I am sure you can think of something he values that he would not allow her to carry around alone to bring home your point. A mess is easier and faster to clean up than a bone (the child's or the dog's) is to fix. A dog is more unpredictable than any of the inanimate objects I mentioned and could easily easily cause the child to loose balance and fall or drop the dog. Good luck!!

that price seems about right though, for each knee, and usually the surgeon will do one knee at a time and the recovery/healing time is about 8 weeks each. It's tough.

YT 2000 Club Member | dog I have the little covered stairs and my old spud uses them. Yes restrict jumping. Spud had trouble with his legs and the vet has him on dasuquin which is for the joints. Works great. |
