Thank you everyone for your encouragement and stories. I must admit – Charlie has provided an element of fun the past 9 months. He certainly is pushing hard to see what he can and can’t do with two old farts. A few nights ago he came running up the ramp, onto the bed and right up to my face and stopped. He would go into “want to fight mode” – you know, kind of jumping at you and backing up. I made a BIG MISTAKE at that moment (yes, I lost control - what was I thinkingl) – I threw the blanket over him – the fight was on! I would cover him up and push him around – he would get out from under the blanket – and we would start all over again. Little did I know I just started a “tradition” with this turkey. Well, last night was the 3rd night in a row – we had to have a fight before he would let me go to sleep. He truly is a pain in the butt – but like other’s have mentioned – you got to love them!

Rambo loves "blanket party!" LOL (just what I call it) I'll yell, "blanket party" and he runs to the nearest blanket whether it's downstairs in the laundry room or a blanket in a dog bed and the fight is on!

I saw you post about 3 a.m. and I thought, uh oh, what now! LOL It's a good one!

That was funny (blanket party). Read your post to the wife - she also thought it was hilarious as well. I normally get up once a night - get some orange juice and turn on the computer for an hour or so...the only time Charlie will leave me alone!

Our last pet was a Bichon Frise named Mandy - a little lady - never a problem. I guess we are paying for the easy ride we had with Mandy.

Please Please tell me, she didn't get up and give the lil stinker a treat????

Well, it was a poop - I know I know!

Anyway, today we made three stops and all three times Charlie let us know he was with us and not taking any prisoners! He screamed and screamed and screamed. For just a moment I thought he was yelling RAPE RAPE RAPE or maybe FIRE FIRE FIRE!

Yes, we waited him out - when he stopped we got out and took him with us. Funny, when he is with us in the store in his little case - he doesn't make a peep - just sticks his head out when someone comes by so he can get a pet.

Hopefully, after a while he will realize that we will just sit tight until he runs out of juice before going into a store. I must admit - his screaming only lasted a few minutes this time.

FWIW - we have him trained to use the paper pads when in the house. When he goes - we give him a small treat (cut a treat into a bunch of pieces and only give him one piece). We noticed that he is using it more and more but it isn't showing up. Let me explain - when he goes he comes out in front of us and does that "cleaning my feet" routine - it is kind of funny sometimes - he actually kicks the rug out from under him. Anyway - we don't immediately change the pad until he goes a few times on it and sometimes his goes on the same exact spot (or so we thought!!!!). I decided to place a mirror across the room so we could see him when he pees. Yea, it has come to that - this dang dog is having fun with us! That little turkey would stick his head over the paper - turn around and see if we could see him - and run out like he pee'd rubbing his feet off on the carpet! He wasn't even on the pad and knew exactly what he was doing. Dang this is one smart dog playing us like a piano so he can get his treat. He is wearing us out - always coming up with something new!
Love this whole post, way too funny!
My Tiffany would do the same thing, I always put her outside to pee on the grass and she would always get a small treat. But when winter came and I put her out and she squatted on the snow and peed and then ran to me for her treat, I looked and SAW NO WET SPOT in the snow!!! She faked her pee! I laughed 'til I cried.

Lacy will do a little pee on her UGO, get a tiny treat, and go and do another little pee, get another treat and will then go and do a third one. But at least she is peeing, LOL, (she is not a "faker" yet!) she just does little pees to get more treats. These dogs are so darn smart!

You had the wife and I laughing. Charlie will pee a bunch of times and it is just a drop each time (when he isn't just faking). We are convinced that it is "tears and sweat" and his ability to "pull back" when a little hits the pad! Yet, when we go down to visit the Grandkids - he will go (take him outside) only a few times during the day - no little drops. Wish I could measure his IQ because I am sure it is higher then mine!

They are SO smart! My Lexi will squat but not go some of the time, but I figure it is to just get me off her back (so to speak ). Lol

No wonder he screams to get in the stores, who could resist that little mischievous face, he's just the cutest, all the attention he must get, just adorable.

Charlie is darling! I can see why he garners attention everywhere he goes.

Max cried/whimpered in the car his entire first year. He kept it up for 6 hours straight on our drive to the breeder's home to pick up his brother Teddy. Part of it was nervousness, part was excitement.

Hopefully with age, Charlie will learn to settle down and just enjoy the ride.
