| Hello Yorkie Lovers This is my first post and my little Katie will be one year old tomorrow on the 11/30/2015. She is so sweet but I can't get her to eat dog food very well. I have tried all the top brands but she will turn her nose up at them until she is starving.. I HAVE TO GET HER EATING HER FOOD FOR THE PROPER NETRUINTS. I CAN'T loose her as she is all I have.. My wife died back in Feb and our other Yorkie died in Dec of 2014 he was 14&1/2. After my wife died I was miserable for the first month and I prayed that I would be lead to a little girl as that was what my wife wanted after Sam passed. I ask her how long were we going to wait befor we got another Yorkie and she said "about fifteen minutes" but she never felt like looking before she died. I knew she wanted a girl and that she wanted to name her Katie, so her name is Sherrys cute Katie. Katie and I have really bonded where ever I am that is where she is whin I sit down she is on me laying in my lap at bed time after I get my c-pap on and she is laying on top of me all night. I feel guilty when I have to go somewhere and I can't take her with me, I find I am always wanting to hurry home to be with her. I take her with me as much as I can and she loves to ride laying next to me. She is my companion. What a wonderful gift dogs are to us and the Yorkies are SPECIAL. WISH KATIE HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOMORROW 😍 Thanks for listening Mike |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi Mike - welcome to YT . So very sorry about the passing of your wife, how devastating - I'm so sorry. But I am glad you have Katie to fill your heart now. On the food, have you yet tried sprinkling Parmesan cheese on her food...? That can really help entice them as it smells nice and pungent. And, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KATIE !!!

| Welcome Mike and Katie. I'm sorry to see you have lost your wife. Wylie's Mom's suggestion for the Parmesan cheese worked on my little girl and I also rubbed the kibble in my hands to get my smell on it before I gave it to her. Now she eats like a little piglet. Happy 1st Birthday, Katie

| Hello and welcome from 'over here', Mike + Katie It sounds like you and Katie have a very special relationship - exactly what's needed after the devastating loss of your wife. My heart goes out to you. If all else fails - I wonder if you've considered feeding her a raw diet? A lot of our members swear by it, and I must admit our Harry actually prefers it above all else - even my home-cooking (doesn't say much for my cooking, does it?!!!? ) I wish you luck with whatever you decide Sally + Harry xx

| Hart felt thanks Well I am home from the vet and the birthday girl is laying in my lap (have you ever tried to write on tablet with 6pounds yep 6 pounds of hair and legs and nose sniffing at every key stroke you make?) oh what fun. The vet checked her out and said I must not give her people food again. He gave me several medicines and a can of bland dog food and said if she will not eat that I need to feed her boiled chicken breasts and rice. I was feeding her baked chicken breast and then I stopped and let her go hungry until she ate some of the dry food. Well last night she had bloody diarrhea and had some at the vets. I am real scared and will try to do what he says. I don't see how her system could get this messed up in such a small amount of time, about four days sense I stopped giving her people food(which was mostly meat a little cheese and milk) SHE REALLY WILL NOT EAT ANYTHING ELSE Thank you so much about the parmigiana cheese idea. I am trying to get her to eat blue buffalo wilderness. My son switched his Yorkie to the wilderness he was feeding the Royal cainen he said the reason he switched was to get away from having grain in the dog food as his Yorkie has allergies I guess I am made to be a care giver as I used to go to bed worrying about Sherry and during the night I would reach out for her hand and in the morning I would look at her and just feel the love I have for her flood over me and I find I am doing the same with Katie maybe even a little more so as she can't talk to me but her eyes sure speak volumes to me. I know Sherry is watching and loving her also. Thank you all for the concern can't wait to hear from you all |

Senior Yorkie Talker | I am so sorry to hear about your wife. We wish Katie a Happy Birhtday. I am so happy that you have Katie, they are wonderful little doggies that need to be with you. I also try to take Chloe with me wherever I can, when I can't, I don't want to leave her very long and always want to get home as soon as I can. Last Thursday my beautiful Yorkie Abby passed on, and it has been so painful, Chloe has helped me so much, they are precious little doggies. |
