| Question for those with more then 1 yorkie When I get my own house I'd like to get another yorkie. I've had Precious since she was 6 wks old (she's now 6 months). She goes everywhere with me and is never not by my side. I am worried though that if I get her a friend she might feel jealous maybe (is that the right term for how she might feel? ). Is this a weird concept? If I get another one, I don't think I'll be able to carry two bags (one is enough work!). Should I just stick with one, or is getting another one a better idea? |

| I have two right now and I want to get a 3rd one. I carry Jewels in a bag but I always put chachi in a harness and leash. He is 9lbs so he is too big to carry in a bag. I really dont think its any more work having two but your vet and your food bills double.

| I have three and one gets carsick so I don't take her places as often, but I will sometimes take two or all three and then I take the stroller. I love my stroller and so do they. If I take just one the other two are not lonely because they have each other. I also have two other dogs who are bigger so I separate them when I leave but there is just a gate between rooms so they can see each other or sometimes I put the yorkies in the xpen if I am only going to be gone a short time. My three are all 4 lbs or under. As far as jealousy, yes, there can be jealousy. Some people say it is best to get the opposite sexes if you have two. I have two girls and one boy but my boy is very laid back and the female I got first is the alpha. I have to discipline her and really supervise her actions around my other little girl because she does get jealous if they are vying for my attention. It is getting better now and she doesn't do it as often now. If I am not involved, they play very well together. Imo having more than one is easier in the sense that they can play with each other and I do not have to constantly play with them. It is harder because you have to train them, bathe them, brush them, take then to the vet, etc. separately, and that is all time consuming but so worth it to me!! Hope that helps. |

| I have three and I very rarely take all three out. Petey is easy as he is the smallest (around 4lbs?) He loves going out. As far as jealousy, YES , mine get jealous of each other. Think the other one is getting more attention. When I walk into the house with Petey (from being out) Bell and Lilly almost attack him!! They have never hurt him, but get very excited, Like he is going to tell them all about his day out!! ANd never expect to give something to one without the other two staring at you!!

| Well two is more of a handful then one. The original Yorkie is always jelous at first if you get another one. It's how you handle the original yorkie's jelousy to how bad and long it can go on for. As for taking your Yorkie everywhere with you. That's almost impossable with two (i mean to go shopping and stuff like that). And you never want to leave one Yorkie out. I actually lucked out with my two girls because Ruby loves walks and the outdoors but hates to be in a bag and Bella loves being in the bag and hates walks and getting dirty. So what I do is Bella's my shopping girl and Ruby is my outdoor walking girl. It actually equals out pretty good. But other than that they love to play with eachother at home and are great friends.

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | I have two little girls, and jealously is an issue at times, but we take the girls everywhere with us, but I live with my parents so there are three of us to tackle them...I thought about getting a third one but love to be able to take the girls places and we couldn't do that with a third! I would say at if you can handle all that comes with two then I would go for it, I love having two around!! But it will come with the sacrifice of nothing being able to take them out all the time....

| I have 2. A male and female. I am wanting another female, hopefully soon!! She-ra was my first, she didn't show any jealousy, but she loves other doggies!! Harley is possessive of She-Ra, so any other males are out of the question. She-Ra gets carsick too, so she doesnt like to go, Harley LOVES to go bye-bye!!! It eill take time, but she will love a playmate more than you think!!

| It looks like I am going to find out what it is like to have 3 little ones in the house. I have a 9 month old Westie and a 6 1/2 month old Yorkie. They can be a handful as the Westie is very hyper. Never still a moment. Jasmine, my Yorkie is much quieter when she is by herself but as soon as the Westie, Duffy, comes in she is pretty wild too. My daughter is getting a divorce and moving out of her house as they are selling it. She may have to move into an apartment for the time being. Her teenage daughter has a 6 1/2 old Yorkie (Murphy) who may not be able to live with them for while as all the apartments they have looked at do not allow pets. Tori would be heartbroken if she had to give him up permanently. It's going to be really hard on her to give him up even for a while, so of course, Grandma (me) offered to keep him until they are permanently settled in a house. It could take up to 6 months. Murphy and Jasmine are neither one completely housebroken so this will be a challenge, but I would do anything for my Grandchildren. I still work full time. My husband is retired, but doesn't remember to take them out as often as I do when I am home. At least he is home with them most of the time and they are a lot of company for him. |
