| New And Need Help!!!!! Hello All: Just wanted to say that this site has been a big help in regards to the valuable info that it offers to any Yorkie owner. I am due to pick up my baby this week and i am extremely nervous as this is my first pet. (lol...yes, and i am a adult). But just wanted to introduce myselt to the site and any tips and advice offered would be greatly appreciated. Right now, i am just concerned with things i need to watch out for being that i live in a apartment and it being so young. My yorkie will be 10 weeks. Also, what would i need to bring to pick and the first few things that i will need to have handy on the arrival of my yorkie. Thanks for all your help.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome! Congratulation! I would read up on alot of the threads on here for invaluable info. Make sure you have a crate, Nutrical so the puppy doesn't go hypoglycemic, the name of a good vet, blankets toys. Good luck

| When picking the pup up from the breeder's make sure you have a towel and some paper towels because they most likely will throw up in the car. If you are driving and there is no one to hold your puppy, make sure you have a pet carrier to put it in. Also if it's cold out, bring a sweater or something warm for your puppy to wear. If it's a long car ride bring some water and maybe a bowl for some food your breeder gives you. A leash and a harness for pee breaks. How exciting

| Your pup is a good age to bring home. If it's a good size - I doubt you'll have any problems at all. I was scared too - because the person I got my pup from spent an hour telling me about all the problems a new little Yorkie pup can have. Mine was 8 weeks old, not small, and had an appetite like a lion. He is growing by leaps and bounds and is as healthy as a little dog can be. Don't worry. Just stick close to your pup - give him a lot of love and hold him a lot. Hopefully he can sleep with you. And, especially make sure he is eating well. This should keep him happy and healthy. I'm sure the person you're getting your pup from with be there 24/7 for you --if you get worried or feel that you are having any serious problems. These first few weeks go by so fast - it won't be long before your pup will be older. By then it will be past having many problems that small pups have - and also by then you will be very comfortable and used to your "little dog." It's kind of like a new mother bringing her first little baby home, isn't it! Good Luck! Carol Jean |

| Welcome and Congratulations. Sounds like you are serious about being prepared for you new baby. I would have nutracal on hand and I would have already selected a good VET who is knowledgeable about Yorkies. |

| Welcome Hi, I'm new, too. Just joined yesterday, but have had my Yorkies for almost 2 yrs (adopted them, they are now 3 yrs old) I'm not as familiar with Yorkies as pups, but I used to breed Bichons and I'm sure they are not that different intially. You've already received some great advice from others on YT. I would just add make sure your house is ready for when you and the new baby arrive. Know where you want to have the kennel arranged, pee pad, food, etc. I think it's important that you're comfortable with the arrangement, so the puppy doesn't see you anxiously trying to figure out where to have everything. I know you'll do great, one of the biggest things is just plenty of love and patience as you both adjust to each other. Yorkiesmiles |
