| Time To Speak Up & Introduce Ourselves! I joined YorkieTalk a couple of weeks ago and have enjoyed reading all of the different posts. I had a Yorkie for 15 1/2 years named "Mocha", but we lost her last May, 2004. After reading all of the different posts on this site & reading up on the Yorkie breed, I discovered a lot of things I did wrong with Mocha - but we did do the most important thing right & that was to LOVE her--and love her we did!! She was such a good dog & I could write two pages on that subject! After ten months, I have finally decided it's time to get another puppy. Our son (now 26 - yikes!) was concerned about me getting another yorkie because he was afraid I would be comparing her to Mocha, and our two girls (20 & 24) didn't care what kind of puppy we got, just wanted us to get one. Our motive 16 years ago for getting a Yorkie was because I knew I would be the cleaner-upper & I wanted the smallest accidents possible to clean up! Knowing very little about the breed (other than they are the cutest dog alive!), we paid $350 for Mocha (a fortune for our family with three children under ten!! I have to believe that God led us to her, because raising three children in private school & gymnastics, we did not have any leftover $$ to be spending on a dog. We had Mocha spayed at 6 months & she never returned to the vet with any health problems until we lost her at 15 1/2! After a month of searching, we found a little female from a breeder here in OK & placed a deposit on her a few weeks ago. She will be ready to come to her new home on Easter weekend - & I can't believe how excited I am to have a snuggle buddy - even though the husband of 27 years isn't bad!! Now that all of the kids are out of the house, this little dog will get more attention than she probably wants - if that's possible! I think we have settled on the name "Kodah" for her - & I'm Rachel Here are a couple of pictures her breeder sent us at 6 weeks & 8 weeks - if I can attach them correctly! Thanks for letting me ramble on . . . . |

| Hi Rachel, Sorry to hear about your loss. Conrats on your new puppy. I too had a Yorkie before and lost him, I know how hard it is. I have two more now and I hope Kodah brings you much joy as my Yorkies have brought to me. |

| Thanks for the welcome - wanted to post a few pics of "Mocha" just so you can see how cute she was! The last little picture was just two months before we lost her & she still looked pretty good, huh! Next pics will be of Kodah & just a warning that I am a little camera happy!!! (just ask my kids - heehee) My daughter got a tiny little chihuahua in December & I think I have already taken over 100 pictures of her (maybe more ) - digital is great!! |

| Rachel: I'm happy for you that you decided to take the plunge and adopt another Yorkie! Kodah is absolutely adorable. She will bring you tons of joy and laughter. Mocha was a beautiful lady. She was stunning and doesn't look 15 1/2 years in her portrait. Carter and I welcome you to the family!

| Welcome Rachel and Kodah! So sorry about your little Mocha. When we lost our toy poodle, Nicole, at 13 years I was so devistated I just couldn't consider another pet. After about 6 years we began looking at Yorkies and I am so thankful! I know how excited you are to get Kodah. Toto added so much to our lives ... she is our joy!! Can hardly wait to see more pics of Kodah and hear about her antics!!
