Yorkie Talker | Thank you all for your kind words. Loosing our babies is BRUTAL. They are family, and this one hit me especially hard. My husband is a bit hesitant to get another dog, but is open to the idea because he knows it will make me happy and it seems to be what I need. I guess I am a nurturer and really need a little dog to care for. I love, love, love my other two dogs but they are 12 and sleep a lot and aren't very demanding and are very well behaved. Scruffy was 12 as well, but demanding and needy. He sat on my lap when I worked at the computer (which is most of the day), slept on my lap at night when I watched tv with the other two dogs beside me, and went to bed with me at night. I keep telling myself that I have two dogs already and that should be enough, but I seem to miss the craziness that Scruffy brought into our lives. He was time consuming, needy, dominant, and demanding and evidently I loved every minute of it. |

I realize that rescue is not for everyone.

The main issue is the Maltese, Snow. Scruffy would attack him occasionally and I don't want him to EVER go through that again. Snow is my "fragile flower". He is small, submissive, and is on seizure meds. I loved Scruffy, but he could be a real piece of work. I had to watch him like a hawk. Edited to say that Scruffy was a rescue. We think somebody dropped him and he found us. I ran ads in the paper and nobody claimed him, so I kept him. This was 10 years ago before there were so many groups on the internet to help find owners. Last edited by KentuckyWoman; 11-11-2015 at 08:48 AM.

Part of me just thinks I should just let Cookie and Snow enjoy their senior years peacefully, but they don't play AT ALL without Scruffy. Scruffy and Cookie played all of the time. They sleep all day, go on walks at the expected time (3-4 times a day), beg for food at dinner, and sit in my lap at night as far as activity. I know they are seniors, but I'd like to see them be a little more active and play at least a little. I do think the dogs mourned Scruffy's death as well. Snow cried for nights in his crate when we put them to bed, and he never does that.

Yorkie Talker | I wanted to give you all an update. I did end up getting a Yorkie! I picked up Bentley a little over two weeks ago and immediately fell in love. He has done so well with my other dogs. He greeted them and bowed to them to ask them to play. Of course, they haven't agreed to play yet, but they are making progress. Bentley has had some issues. He made his first visit to the vet because he was sick after I had him for a week. He is in the hospital now because he has diarrhea and was vomiting. They have done 2 parvo tests and both were negative. They are about to do some blood work and send a stool sample off. I don't know what's wrong with him, and this is killing me. I thought I did everything possible to get a healthy puppy and ended up with a sick little guy. Meet Bentley! | I'm so sorry little Bentley is sick. He's such a cute little guy. Hope he is better soon and back home.
