| what is this? Lambeau is 6 months old. We've had him since he was about 9 weeks. He came from a home, that had 3 large dogs, which were "rough and rowdy" ( told to me by previous owner) When I got him home I noticed right away that he had what felt like 1 or 2 scabs on his back. I figured maybe the "rowdy " dogs may have gotten too rough and bit him or something. They didn't look infected so I let them heal and they went away. Well these scabby looking spots continue to pop up on him even still. He's definitely not getting bit here. The vet doesn't seem concerned. They are always small and I've never seen him have more than 1 or 2 at a time. No hair loss or oozing. Anyone have similar issues? Last edited by dgchick29; 10-29-2015 at 06:53 AM. |

| That looks pretty wet and raw! Does he lick himself a lot? Do you take him on walks where he may be coming into contact with an allergen? Does it seem to itch? I would ask the vet about using betagen to dry it up. If it continues I would insist on a skin scrape and or swab to test for skin infection that may require antibiotics.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | This looks like it could be a dried up localized pyoderma infection (staph intermedius). I would have the vet skin scrape it and look at it under scope. For localized infections of htis kind, usually you're given Muciprocin ointment.

| Looks like it WAS a scab but like above poster said, could've been licking/scratching on it and now is infected. Best to get the vet to take a look but for now, make sure Lambeau doesn't lick/scratch it. Do you have any ointment you can apply? I have something called vetericyn in my ER kit for minor things or to help while waiting to get to the vet. |

| It actually isn't wet at all. It looks like it in the pic but it must've been the way camera caught one of his hairs or something. But I'm taking him to the vet Monday. Is it normal for staph to be long term and only cropping up every now and aagain? |
