| How Many Clean Anal Glands? How many of us clean our yorkies anal glands ourselves. I learn on my own and don't recommend other try this unless you know what you are doing as it is dangerous and can hurt your baby. I tried it my first time and in the first time i was succesful. Now I do it every time I bathe Ruby. Needless to say the first time I did it she was needing it apparently froma long time as when I squeezed all the good stuff came out squirting. It wasn't the best experience that we can say. As for the smell, I will leave that to your imagination. |

| I've never attempted that with Maddie, but the other day when I had her to the vet, I asked him about it. He did it, but there was very little in there...so, I'm hoping she is one of those that isn't ever bothered with it. He said she must be able to empty them on her own since there was not much in there but a few drops.

| From that first time Ruby has very little to but I just do it to make sure she is always clean and not bothered by this. I do not all get bother but some do start the "BOOTY SCOOT". |

Did volunteer work at a groomer's one day...back in high school...and that was one of the services we were suppose to provide. She FINALLY talked me into doing it and I tried, couldn't get anything to come out. Got the groomer...even she had a hard time getting it done. She finally did and it was green and said that it was a good thing that she saw it because she was going to tell the owner to have it checked out.

| Jess always had a smelly butt and she had her anal glands squeezed twice by the vet.It was DISGUSTING and I dont think I could ever do domething like that my self. Then one day the anal gland fluid started leaking from her behind and THAT was awful because thats a smell you cant get out of the furniture with anything (and it stains),and the fur on her bottom stunk to high heaven! (the liquid is brown) Finally she started to cry when pooping and after taking her to the ER she had her anal glands removed. They were swollen and she had an infection (this all happend in a matter of 48 hours). It was scary but right now Im so glad they´re gone! Thats one smell Im not going to miss |

| Yes, I do mine every other bathtime. Otherwise she will release them on to me at the worst possible moment. The color varies.. light brown, to dark brown, sometimes clearish, so does the consistancy. Ive never seen green.. but Ive also heard that white is not a good color either.
